GSDfan

by GSDfan on 13 November 2007 - 02:11

We had our first PSA training session today, nothing special...more of an evaluation, but it was fun.

We primarily just worked on some targeting, and see where he was with it since he's been doing SchH for the past 3 years.  But he did great, I was very pleased.

BTW I asked the other decoy who didn't know anything about him...How old do you think my dog is...He said 3!!!  (he's 7)

Uploading the video now, in about 10mins it will be the first listed at www.youtube.com/beckerfoto

It was fun to do something different, just thought I'd share.

Regards,

Melanie

Yes it is. Glad to see you trying it.

Warning to you, GSDfan..   PSA is addictive!   And alot of fun.

I like it because there is No snobbery. If a $25 Pit pound dog  or Rott mutt can work, it is welcome.   Its great fun and some GSDs do very well. Let us know how you do, hopefully a PSA1 or 2.. The 2 is veyr hard to come by, let alone the 3.    The scenarios are not rehearsed and its pretty real to life..car jackings, multiple attackers etc.

Best of luck to you and your dog..keep at it

It is good to see new people flocking into PSA! As was mentioned previously, watch out it can be very addictive!

Thanks for sharing your experience.  I've been to a PSA club once and it was very cool.  I like the reality aspects of the sport.  It's certainly a much better test of the "protection" than the choreographed routine that is SchH.

I wish there were more clubs.  The closest one to me is about 3.5 hours drive.  Best wishes to you!  Have fun and work hard, and I'm sure you'll come to success.

This is 1 of the better PSA vids on Utube imo.    A few GSDs working.   Enjoy.
