Heard that puppies ears can be manipulated into your desired angle by taping it. how true is this? if yes! is there a proper technique of doing that? Thanks a lot.

I have a friend who is taping her pups ear right now. The left ear is lazy and won't stay up for anything. A friend of hers at the vet that she goes to showed her how to do it. She was told to tape it at the fold where it's folding over so that it stays up. Said to leave the tape on for a day or two, take it off for a day and then do it all over again! I really have no idea though how to do it my self. I've never had the problem with the ears.

Zaltana, I have a proven method of bracing soft ears in order to correct a saggy ear. GSD ears should always rise naturally and be firm. That said, sometimes there is a "problem" ear or a bit of impatience on the part of the owner.
Can an ear be manipulated to a desired angle? I guess that an ear can be ruined by improper bracing position. The puppy is born with a genetically-determined ear size, thickness, and set. Some will have large "donkey" ears, some will have short and thick ears, some will be nearly vertical and parallel, and some will have an angled set.
If you need some templates and instructions for bracing, please send me an e-mail.
Regards,
Bob-O
