Anyone got room in their heart for one of these beautiful GSD's?

Each one has a story that will break your heart. Wolfgang, above, probably had acid thrown in his face. Schultz, the black and red puppy ,  was left chained in his owner's backyard until he reached the above state: mangy, suffering from pneumonia, and at death's door.  The other mangy puppy was just dumped on the roadside by her family, who was obviously not willing to cope with her treatment. The sweet little pup in the top photo has megaesophagus.

Sights like this make me think twice about shelling out big money for a registered dog. I don't have the time or the space for another dog, and being so far away, doubt I'd be allowed to adopt one of these unfortunate critters even if i did. But Christmas is coming, and maybe some of my cash will find its way to California to help pay their vet bills.

Yeah...

Two Moons

I hurt.  There are animals of all kinds being mistreated every day everywhere.  I think humans can be the least noble of all creatures at times.

I think we need to make those responcible pay .  even jail time.

I also dont think we can or should try to save them all.  Maybe it would be kinder to end the suffering.

Someone else will sort it out in the end anyway.  We all face that day, great and small.

Now I'm depressed.

Me.

mcdgsd, these were all rescues posted on Westside GSD Rescue, in Los Angeles. If you click on the first link I gave above, it will take you to their home page. And in response to Two Moons, yes, not all dogs can or should be saved. But with the exception of Emily, the pup with megaesophagus, these dogs all stand a good chance of living long, healthy lives if given proper care.

The adoption fee for this rescue organization is $300, but if you look at how much they've spent on veterinary care for these animals, it's easy to understand why the fee is so high.
