Here is the link to my boy's pedigree:
http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/pedigree/7/522792.html
I am confused as to what type of lines he has. I see some East lines, but that is as much as I know. I'd love to know if he is East or West bred, if he is show or working bred. I am sure he is working bred, but I could be wrong. I'd love any help
I'm taking him on Saturday to have him evaluated and see if he is Schutzhund material. I'd also love to show him conformation, but I am not sure if he is good enough for that. He is 8 months old.

That pedigree looks like crap! I would advise you to give him to me immediately and I will find a home for him. There is no way that your dog will be any good. He has world champion Tom Leefdalhof, aron bracheler see, mohnweise, bosen nachbarchaft, and other really horrible dogs.
Send the dog to me immediately at your expense. Please, the sooner the better! I wouldn't want to see you get too attached. I am doing you a big favor!

Your boy's sire line is totally west german. Dam line is atleast half west german, I do not know about a couple of the dogs in her ped, mostly her dam line. All work though.

West German working lines - titled dogs behind him are notable - as per DC above - but does not show titles on parents. Dog should have drive to work looking at pedigree. No East German -DDR types in first 3 generations

lol, you should be paying don to take 'em.

Don, this poor person is going to think you're serious! Some nice lines there, don't believe Don's kidding around.....

Yes that was a joke. The boy looks nice. He has some very nice dogs in his pedigree.

5-5 on Troll von der bosen Nachbarschaft. In the dog's 6th, Fero is bred to Askia vom Froschgraben 3 times. twice on top, and one time on bottom. Nice working ped.

Thank you everyone!!
Don, you can have him for ... $100,000 HAHA
I could not find any info online about West German lines, but I found an archive with East german lines and did peg a few on the dam's side to the East lines (all of 2 or 3 dogs, lol). I'm very happy to finally know what he is ... mostly West German working lines.
He was having a rough time with his previous owners, they had little time for him and he picked up on some behavioral issues (jumping on people, barking, getting very hyper in new environments or around new people, etc). Nothing that I can't fix. He is already much calmer and behaving better with us in his new home.
I am signing him up for Obedience class in December and we are taking him to the breeder this Saturday to have him evaluated for Schutzhund training. I'm very proud of him! He is going to be amazing after some obedience training. I'd love to get a CGC title on him, too.

I think that a dog like this needs a job to keep the body and mind satisfied. Sometimes, fundamental obedience is not enough. The mind needs to be challenged. I'm not saying that it won't help, hell it sounds like you spending more time with the boy has helped.
