OMG!

I cannot even imagine any BUSINESS having this many dogs.  My gosh.

But, from the little bit I've seen on the news, the conditions were clean, dogs/puppies looked to be in good enough shape but, there were too many in some cages/kennels/runs and looked cramped, etc.  The Beagles definitely looked like their conditions were way too cramped and up on the cages all the time...no real floor.

Anyway, they said the man was licensed to "house" up to 500; but, not licensed to sell any.  They are letting him keep 100 (to breed) and took almost 900 or something like that to alot of shelters on the East Coast.

The shelters say they will charge $150 per dog/puppy but, that it actually costs them $2,000 per dog to take care of.  Why would it cost $2,000?  Even if neutering, vetting, etc?  $2,000 per dog?  Wow.

I'll try to post the link to the story.

Hopefully, this will go thru.

I just feel horribly sorry for any animal having to live this way.  Where is the human companionship, love, interaction, etc.  Life in a cage to breed, breed, breed.

Why would they let him keep 100 dogs just to keep breeding?

I'm sorry....'says "nearly 1,000" puppies were rescued.

I only briefly glanced at it, so do not quote me verbatim, please.

WOW...now that is ALOT of dogs.  :(  Atleast they seemed to be in good health, living conditions.

$2000 a dog does seem a bit steep, but perhaps they are looking at the big picture and how long they will actually be boarded, fed, cleaned up, vet checked, shots, spay/neuter, evaluated, perhaps some basic OB started (I know they sometimes do this).....it is very costly!!!

Here's to hoping they all can be saved and adopted to loving family homes!

Wow what is he thinking? What is the state thinking letting him keep 100 dogs and allowing him up to 500 by the time next year they will have the same delema with him.

But this is not only in VA it's all over the US.

I think there should be strickter reulations and control in every state for Breeders or any one with animals.

I think it was actually 1100 dogs that were rescued, they brought 22 of them to Richmond SPCA for future adoptions!  WOW  that is a lot of dogs to take care of, on the news they really didn't look that unhealthy, they all seemed to be in good spirits also!  But still 1100 DOGS!!!  Crazy
