For Shandra- Xtreme Home Help - Page 1

A couple of us on the board have been filling out the application to nominate Shandra for ABC's extreme home makeover; we thought that the more applications we sent in, the better it would be, but the application is very cumbersome, intended, I presume, to separate the truely needy from the scammers. All of the good people on this board who'd like to help don't have the time to fill out page after page of Shandra's details, so Venzosmom & I came up with an idea that we think would work. I'll complete my application, & I'll wait about a week before sending it in, so that anyone who wants to can mail me a short note stating why they think that Shandra should be given a home make over; we'll bundle all of the notes with the application, and send them in. I will pm my address to any who will send me a note. I think that signatures and written notes that contain your name, address, and daytime phone number are important so that ABC can verify information if they so chose; you can seal them up, if you want, if you're nervous about sending them to me, I promise that I will only forward them to ABC with the application (and I'm putting mine out there to whoever pms me as well). I think that using snail mail so whomever screens the applications actually sees the signatures would be more personal and compelling than just e-mails...I nominated myself to do this since I'm off work with my shoulder & probably have a little more free time right now than most of you. Ok...give us some feedback. We know it's a long shot, but better to try than not...nothing to lose, & can't hurt anything. Jackie  Great idea. Thank you for taking it on. I know Shandra is up to her ears in elephants right now but is there anyone nearby that can also get her community involved in this? I think that's an impt part of the process. Plus maybe they could find out more for us about her involvement in the shelter etc - always makes good copy.

Two of the things that have impressed me is her belief of trying to tough it out when others would be sitting in a puddle of tears and most of all we have not heard one word of reproach from her directed at her son who brought the mercury into the hosue ( albiet w/o knowing the problems). I would think most of us would have been angry enough, frustated enough, scared, panicked etc that it would have been difficult not to reproach him.

Will do! It takes a couple of months for the application to be processed, and with the entertainment strikes out on the coast and elsewhere, now's probably not the best time to send it anyway.....the casting dept. reads the applications.....jh
