I have a 5 1/2 month old puppy that is 23 inches at the shoulder and his back feet are 11 inches and front paws 8 1/2 inches. That is from the joint. I understand that the fast growth stops at 6 months but they still grow slowly up to 12 months old or older. His grandfathers are Yasko and Wallace. They are both listed as 65 cm or 25.6 inches. Now I have read all the posts about the German judges fudging on the height. I don't care how big he gets except that the larger ones tend to have more hip issues. Also its fun just to guess how big. Most people say look at those paws he's gonna be 95 to 100 punds. I doubt that.
Would like to hear from others on how much their GSD grew after 5 1/2 months.

I should have said 23 inches at the highest point on his back.

Come on guys. You have an opinion on everything. I just want some guesses. He is growing out of his crate and I don't want one that is too big or small as there is only so much space.

Unless hes a very thin boy. I would definitly say hes gonna be the 95 pound range ! For the German standard, males are 24-26 inches at the withers. He should be well above this.

My boy is pretty darn big, he'll be 10 months next week and he is in the mid 90's. He is not overwieight but is overheight, last I measured he was 26" and is probably more now. He still has some filling out to do so I'd say he'll be 105-110. I'd venture to say your boy will be about the same. But isn't it fun guessing? I thought my last boy would be big but he only got to around 80#, not that that's small, he was just right. I'll never know what he would have gotten to had he lived, probably 85-90, he was 22 months.
Drake is really powerful though, I'm glad I've had him in training from a young 10 weeks. If he had no manners he would be impossible for me to control. Full grown he'll weigh near what I do. When he's playing and hits me with those paws...wham, I've almost gone down a few times and he's not even putting his full weight behind it, he's just playing!

Chaos is 17 months old and is 74.1 lbs as of today. He did lose a pound from a week or so ago when I had him to the vet for his shots, etc.

angus was 51 lbs at 5 months. he's now 17 months and is almost 28" to the top of the withers. he weighs somewhere between 85 and 90 lbs. he is lean; he's a long coat so its hard to see the ribs, but you can feel them and he is slim looking down at his body. i try to watch his weight carefully because of his hips. his parents were normal size, standard coat. in fact, his dad was considered at the smaller end of the normal range. my sweet dog is a mutant (lol). i've gotten some interesting guesses as to his final size; anywhere from 110 to 130 lbs! i think he may well top 100, but i hope he isn't too gigantic (again, because of his hips).

Shepherd Woman, Chaos is gorgeous! LOL angusmom, teenage mutant ninja GSD. I think Drake will probably top out at around 28" too (he may be already, haven't measured him in over a month), little too big but he is what he is, I think I'll keep him.
