I am curious as to what the naming convention is of this breed.  I see a lot  von der;  vom der haus??

for example

klaus von der haus shutzhund  ( made up name)

I am totally new at this site and am interested in the breed.

The first name tends to be just that, and the final name is usually that of the kennel (Zwinger). The connecting articles (von, vom, der, von der, zum, etc.) typically mean "from" or "from the", "near the" etc. It's too late tonight for a quick lesson in German grammar, but  I think you understand what I mean here.

Litters are named with this convention-the same alpabet character begins each name, and males are named (and numbered) first. Successive litters use successive alphabet characters until they are depleted and used over.

Regards,

Thanks Bob, I understand now the way the dogs are named.
