What is the best way to keep your dog flea-free while placing the least amounts of chemicals on the dog?

by Riccos Dad on 05 October 2011 - 01:10

I bathe Ricco with Dr. Bronner's Peppermint soap mixed with Mane & Tail horse shampoo. The pepermint is a natural flea deterrent. He is an inside pup and I spray the back yard every six months to make sure that there are no bugs inhis area. Hope this helps, Mike

Ricco's Dad, that does help. So you bath him with the soap and shampoo, what do you use for spraying the yard?

Thanks!!

Buy some food grade Diatomaceous earth. it acts by scratching away the waxy coating on the fleas exoskelaton which makes the flea dehydrate and die. You can also add it to the dogs food on a daily basis to control worms. I use it on all my animals (its so safe you can actually eat it yourself) it also gives them fantastic coats
