Is there anyone that can explain the steps...to a NON computer person..how to trace a pedigree on a dog from the Czech Republic?
If possible, please put it in language for "dummies," as our son says I am illiterate with technology. I still try..and won't give up!
Thank you,
Joanne
Please send to e-mail address, as I am not sure I can get back to here?
Thank you very much!

Well, let's start with the pedigree in hand, if you have that. I presume that you live in the U.S.A. and the dog of interest resides here. If the dog of interest is now AKC registered, then a five-generation research pedigree is easy to obtain by visiting their online store and using a credit card. Use this link: http://www.akc.org/shop/index.cfm?nav_area=online_store
If the only pedigree available is from the Czech kennel club, then that is a different matter. If the dog has an "a" stamp from the S.V. and is from S.V.-registered parents, then he will be on the online Zuchtwert database. Use this link: http://www.schaeferhunde.de/site/index.php?id=688
Be aware that the S.V. has very slow web servers, and if someone else is looking at the same dog, then only the first person can see him. If the dog is "a" stamped and from S.V.-registered parents he will also be on the S.V. Genetic CD-ROM which is updated each quarter and available from the S.V.'s website for a fee.
Even though this is a Czech dog, at some point the dog's ancestry is German from S.V.-registered stock and those dogs are probably found on this pedigree database.
Good Luck!
