Check out the training on this video. Watch the woman in the blue t-shirt towards the end. Do you find it necessary to "choke up" your dog who is in a prong collar for simple obedience positioning? Who is the over reactive one here, the dog or the handler?

Now, don't get me wrong, I use a prong but the point of a prong is to be able to use lighter corrections, or so I thought.
Maybe i'm just in a raw mood and just don't find it necessary in this situation?

Her dog didn't look any worse for wear. I'm sure she knows what her dog needs or can handle more than we can speculate on video.

Here is a working link to the video in question:

Lets just say that this is not the training method I prefer, no prong, no punishment whatsover. If you can't get a dog to cooperate with you without torturing him, find another dog, or better, just find yourself something else to do !

GunnarHK, I agree with you while I dont think just because someone does something different than means they are right or wrong, I do think that this type of training lacks understanding of working "with" your dog. I titled my male entirely with a clicker, no prong and for most of it, no collar.

"Choking him"? "Torturing him"? Please people, give us a break. The woman corrected her dog, what is the problem?? I have seen people use very hard training techniques, some that make me uncomfortable, and I do not have weak stomach, this is not an example of that.

I didn't mean to judge that woman, I do agree, she is not a typical "bad" case, and I am sorry for not being clear enough about it in my posting. Still my oppinion is that you can easily train obedience without any "corrections". It is just a different approach, and I happen to like it better.
