I found red hearts in the dog food too...what gives? - Page 1

I remember a thred that mentioned "red hearts" in the lamb and rice base food, but I cannot remember what is was called or am I able to identify it in the message list.  I have started feeding,Nutra Nuggets "Lamb and Rice' kibble that I purchase from Smart and Final here in the San Diego, CA. area.  It used to be carried by Costco.  I started feeding this morning and what do I find, several of the red heart shaped kibbles mentioned in the referenced thread.  All I can remember is the mention of heart shaped kibble showing up in the feed.  I started feeding this food about 8 weeks ago mostly because of the "monkey see, monkey do" phenomenon. A few people in the club were feeding their dogs this and they looked good and appeared to have decent coats and energy levels.  So, I gave it a try.  My older dog (9yrs.),  coat is not as nice as I would like it and she scratchs without signs fo skinproblems, at least not yet, nor any ectoparasites.  My younger dog (9mo.),is so-so as the coat goes.  I take really good care of them and monitor their progress daily while I am grooming and brushing them.  To make a long story short, can anyone give me a hint as to where that thred was? Sounds like the processing line was not properly cleaned between runs of different kinds of food.  I would be very very unhappy and stop feeding what was left.  At this point you have no idea what your dog is eating.

Believe someone said it was Members Mark by Sam Club Lamb and rice........

I'm almost positive it was Yellowrose who posted about it. Maybe do a search of her posts and look for food ones. It will be fairly recent.

Im here, and it was me    Don just emailed me  Ive been absent ,,,,sprained my left ankle,,thought I broke it,,,so Ive been hobbling on a cane and I hurt from top to bottom     three acres of hills and trees and dogs...its better , thanks to aspirin ,wrapping and ice and keeping it up in air...1/2 a day.....

Yes , Exceed lamb and Rice is not made by sams    for sam or by any instruction of Members Mark...they just let Purina dog food put whatever in the bags    I have three or four samples from 4 bags back in Feb March and April    and when I ask Sams  number on the bag,,,,they wouldnt own up to who made their dog food...so I got nasty and it was during the call back of dog foods and they got scared that I was going to the Attorney g  General of Texas with the info and they didnt want bad info out at that time   so they gave me anotner number , not on the bag.....and guess who it was     good   ole   PURi INA   DOG FOOD    OWNED BY   NESTLE         AND I WENT TO PETSMART AND FOUND THE BAG WITH THE RED HEARTS    WHICH    BYW    HAS     RED  DYE       IN IT , AND ALSO THE CHEMICAL     MENADIONE    A CHEMICAL  NOT A NATURAL  VITAMIN    VERY DANGEROUS.....

THE MAILED ME TWO CHECKS FOR THE PRICE OF THEIR MISTAKES    BUT I TOLD THEM   IF YOU CANT CLEAN THE HOPPER THAT THE DOG FOOD  COMES DOWN    AND    SAMS DOESNT HAVE ANY STANDARD AS TO THE FOOD IS REALLY MADE     AND    THEY    DONT....THEY WOULD NT   CARE IF POSSUMMS WERE IN IT...OR IF THEY WERE BARBUEING
