May I invite all GSD-fans to read my latest study about the huge differences (KONTRASTE) between the working dogs and the beauty pagents through my website: www.bloggen.be/hd
(No commercial interests whatsoever!)
Should you have difficulties reading german, I have offered the accompanying spreadsheets that speak for themselves.
Check it out! And enjoy!

Jantie: Because your info is not in English, I had more than "a difficulty" trying to figure it out. Even with the charts, it was not feasible.
I am sorry about your dog Indiana and appreciate that you kept your word and are now on a "mission" to do what you can about wiping out HD. It looks like interesting and pertinent information, but I just can't figure it out. I get the overall point I believe. If I am correct, the point is that all existing GSD organizations do not have strigent enough regulations against these health problems, when it comes to breeding and awards.
Don't know that I agree with you yet, because I can not read the info your provided and any accompanying conclusions by you or others, but you have done well to your promise to Indiana. May you get another "Indiana" without the HD problems.
Pushing the fluid into him through the syringe must have been harder than just saying goodbye like we all have to do at some point. I think that you did the right thing, for the right reasons, at that time. I have had to make those decisions more than once and I always helf them in my arms during, think about those times and moments, most days since.

Hi Jantie,
I translated the article online. It was still difficult to read. I downloaded the spreadsheet and I saw your short vidieos online. It was extremely sad. I couldn't watch all of it. The only problem is that all those top show producers do not have all their prodginy x-rayed or if they are they are not in the database as such. When 50% are listed as not x-rayed then the data is useless. It seems the working dogs had a higher % of HD-1 but they also had a higher % x-rayed. I get my puppy x-rayed in less than a month. These are just the prelim 6 month ones. Don't know what I will do if they come out bad. I will be devistated.
I don't know what the answer is but I do know that larger is not better. Extreme angulation is not better. Straight backs are good. I really checked out all the dogs in my puppies pedigree but there are no Garauntees. There were a couple that I thought were dicey. Mine is a Wallace Grandson as well. The other side looks better.

Jantie,
Do you have an English translation? I tried to figure out your charts and your blog, but I don't speak German so I couldn't make much sense of it.
I didn't see any of the videos that davegaston mentioned. Clearly I missed them.
Can you please give some help to us Americans?

I'm very sorry I don't yet have the time to offer a translation (I'm currently working on a new study, including the angulation theme). I do know however that there are quite a lot of visitors here that are always scrolling the German discussionboards, and can translate very well. As all is quite right now on the German boards, the addicts might have a moment to spare.
Obviously they are not very keen to translate my study, as they are defending SV-politics, even when these are quite bad.
SchHBabe, I'm sorry. The videos Davegaston mentioned about Indiana are on: www.jantie.demeyere.googlepages.com
The videos are quite bad quality, try the PowerPointPresentation (slideshow).
Davegaston: I wish you and your pup a great result when x-raying!
DRAFNO: A man's got to do, what a man's got to do!

Jan,
Sorry I do not read German and Dutch.
Don't take this the wrong way Jantie but if you really want to educate people here... why not type your articles in english instead of German and Dutch?
It's like this.. I write an important article that i want people to read, it's in a different language, lets say in japanese. I post it to an almost english spoken message board. I'm not going to have people to take me seriously because of lack of communication.
Online translators do not work either.

Lack of time Britt, sorry!
You'ld be surprised to see that most users here don't have English as their mothertongue. Original English/American speaking citizens are the minority here. WE ALL had to learn English (at some time in our lives).
Remember, Olli who started this, is from Iceland! English is just a secondary lanuage. So I would need to start translating into Portugese (Bom dia!), then Spanish (Hola!), French (Bonjour!), Chinese (Ni hao!), Arabic (Al salaam a'alaykum!) and Russian ( Zdravstvuite!) before I get to English. And what about my Japanese friends? Konnichiwa!!
Sorry! Can't do it!
Btw, I have no intention whatsoever to "educate" people. Not in the least. I'm only contributing my share.
Try Chris Silbersee. She's always on my tail and does a great job in translating!

by Silbersee on 04 November 2007 - 12:11
Sorry Jantie!
Chris Silbersee is not going to do your bidding and help you spread your distorted facts! I have, just like everybody else read your posts regarding this subject. You tried the German boards as well, and nobody seems interested. And that bothers you!
Yes, I am always on your tail because I have a problem with people discrediting our breed so much! I am a very devoted GSD fancier!
Chris
