the Ol'Line Rebel

by the Ol'Line Rebel on 26 October 2007 - 16:10

Hi guys, I just ran across this posted by a person on another forum I frequent (NON-DOG).  The person who posted it IS the person of this website.

What do you think about this whole thing, regarding "the American Superior" dog?

http://themissal.blogspot.com/2007/10/american-superior.html

ANY comments are welcome of any kind on any aspect.  I can give my critique in a bit, but I want to see what reactions you have.

I don't critique people for trying to create a breed.  All breeds come from "mutts" - they were mutts until they bred true and became recognized.  Our own GS are only 100 years old - from mutts, and mutts back then!

I DO have multiple criticisms of this, but I'll wait and see.  I'm afraid I'll be pilloried for bringing up things directly to this guy.

Ol'Line Rebel,,,,,,,,,THANK YOU,,,,,,,,,THANK YOU,,,,,,,,,,,THANK YOU!!

Here I thought I had a bunch of mixed breed mutts out back, and now I find out I have a yardfull of not only an "AmericanSuperior" mixed with Coonhound, but I think I have some "Super Dooper Pooper Superior Specials"!My possibilities are almost endless.

Little did I know that all these years, I have been feeding and caring for a yardfull of "Money Makers" I have $$$$$ in my eyes now! I just regret spaying so many of the females. Well, can't undo that, but now as soon as the girls come in its breed, breed, breed

Below is my main foundation Stud of my new breed. His name is Wubby. He loves children, is a Coon Killing fiend. He is very protective and will attempt to kill all adult strangers. He weighs 100lbs, and is part hound and God only knows what else. The name isn't set in stone, but I do believe my new breed will be called the "SDPSS", which stand for Super Dooper Pooper Superior Surprise!  I am not a crook. I will sell pups at a working mans price at $1000.00

Now if I decide to breed Wubby to a red nosed bitch I have, any pup that has a red nose will sell for $500.00 extra!  I tell ya folks, my legs will be so tired from all the peddling I plan on doing........................................................................................................

Here's Wubby!!!!!

Well.......as usual, I'm totally confused.(LOL).  What.....you had an unexpected, unplanned litter and the 'new superior breed' is just levity??????with a price of $300 to assure good homes for the pups????(LOL)  If anything more......you're on your own Abhay. Lottsa luck. (LOL)

"I DO have multiple criticisms of this, but I'll wait and see.  I'm afraid I'll be pilloried for bringing up things directly to this guy."

You won't be pilloried by me. I am the man who has been conducting these experiments for years and selling this breed for years. And I am certainly open to criticism regarding the breed, however unless you own one or know someone who does, then I am uncertain as to what particular criticisms we could discuss, except maybe criticism about the precursor breeds (The great Dane and Saint Bernard), or as a general discussion on large dogs, etc.   As you said, all so called pure breeds are the result of selective breeding experiments by humans on dogs. That is simply a scientific fact. All dogs were originally mutts, and only by selective and intentional breeding were particular breeds produced which show specific and identifiably unique genetic and physical characteristics.   Neither the Great Dane nor the Saint Bernard are really very old breeds and both were produced by cross breeding. My experiments are simply a continuation of the original breeding experiments which produced the two parent breeds.   In order to produce a new breed however one must both breed experimentally, and then breed true. He cannot simply allow indiscriminate mutt-breeding (though I have no prejudice against mutts, in the past I've owned a few and they were good dogs), but one chooses particular breeds are then seeks to create a new breed which displays the most obvious and useful positive traits while simultaneously suppressing any negative traits evidenced by the precursor breeds.   In this case I sought to enhance and make apparent the gentle social nature and enormous work capabilities and strength of both breeds, while seeking to breed animals who showed more resistance to those defects commonly associated with other breeds of large dog (such as hip problems, shorter life span - although from my own experimentation I have learned that good diet and nutrition among other things, will greatly increase life span, etc.)   Then after a particular genetic profile and set of genetic traits (or desired characteristics) is established you then freeze the breed (do not allow further addition of new genetic material by the introduction of material from other breeds) by breeding true to that breed, thereby creating a new breed. As I said in the article.   Anyhow, those are the methods I have been employing for years.

The same ones all breeders use. I had been meaning to write this article for years and simply never got around to it because of work and other projects, but last night after playing with the puppies I still had left form my last litter I decided to go ahead and put my notes together and write the piece.

"What do you think about this whole thing, regarding "the American Superior" dog?"

Thank you for your interest. When I posted this I had no idea that my article would appear on a site like this.

"He loves children, is a Coon Killing fiend."     Who could argue with a dog that is both good with children and a coon killing fiend? My dogs by the way, are good cooners as well. Especially Bart (a Great Bernard), the sire of my last litter. So good luck to you.

Okaaay..I fell into that one.  I guess the pups aren't yours Abhay?? O'LR---next time you feel the need for an expose, further details will be required by your's truly.(LOL)
