my puppy is going to puppy socialization class and these days getting too much energy as jumping and running around alot.
she has learned basic commands already that i trained her.
i couldn't make her heeling training.
is there any books or training dvds that i can purchase that you all recommend for me.
lso, i'm thinking to train her as protection dog, do i need to give it to trainer or are there any training videos i can buy or book and try that?
any suggestions would be really great.
thanks

Congrats, just the other day it seemed like she was lethargic. I thought you had a young pup, and if that is the case, I think most of the others will recomend taking it slow on really difficult things like heeling that require the dogs full attention for an extended period of time. I'm not really sure about that though. The others should say something soon.

thanks watsongsd.
yes she was shy and lethargic. maybe just for the time to grow up.
now she looks at the big dogs but barks at small one. also barks in the house if she heards some unusual sound outside. very alert.
now tomorrow she will be 5months.
innova large breed puppy food is doing great on her. the coat looks shinny and very less shed.
but has very high energy these days and jumps and scratches lot on my hands.
i thought to start training her for protection use plus heeling.
thanks

Play play play with that puppy. Join a SchH club if you can. The Bernard Flinks videos or Ivan B videos are pretty good.
My guy is 6 months old and has tons of drive and all we do is play. When he starts showing a little more self control I will start with more OB. He knows sit and watch me and is very slowly learning platz. I am in no rush and I think it is very important to develope a fun relationship with your dog. Later on down the road when you are using more pressure during training you can relieve the the pressure with play.
I strongly suggest that you hook up with a good Schutzhund Club. You can at least lay the foundation on your pup and then transfer to Personal Protection if you are serious about it. A good club offers tons of advice and support and is a lot of fun. I love my club and I have made some pretty good friends along the way.
Good Luck !
