This is a long story I'll try to make short.  My sweet boy Link had to be put down last year, he was 22 months old.  When I got him I was not that interested in his pedigree, was looking for a healthy dog (please don't scold me, I know how many of you feel about that, I knew no better at the time).  Found a breeder east of Pittsburgh who had a georgeous black sable male and a pretty little black female.  I called because I wanted a black female.  Then we saw Link, a little sable ball of fur and our hearts picked him, he was the most beautiful puppy I'd ever laid eyes on.  He was a wonderful dog in every way, loved more than anyone will ever know.  After taking him to OB classes I was more interested in a title so started looking into getting his pedigree.  He was registered CKC (Continental) but the breeder told me that both sire and dam were AKC and I could apply if I wanted to get AKC registration.  Long story short, the litter was never registered with AKC so they would not comply (can't say as I blame them).  No biggie until he died.  The breeder told me the sire was out of Gradalens Gross and Ciera z Javorove Zahrady (they wrote the names on a piece of paper which I copied to a file on my computer) and since I had no pedigree, took their word.  When Link died and I posted this info someone stated they currently owned Ciera and she was never bred to Gross.

Okay that said, I wanted to look into this in a way to "clear" Link's name (may sound stupid after the fact but I really want to know).  I've been on a mission since with no luck. I want to find his true pedigree and don't know where to begin.  I can contact the breeder but they have since lost the sire to bloat and I don't quite know how to approach them, after all I'd be accusing them of a falsehood.  I'm willing to pay for the pedigree but CKC requires the breeder's signature.  I know it's a moot point but I just want the truth, so...

Does anyone know where Gross is or who owns him?  I believe the screen name of the owner of Ciera was Krazy Kilum (if you're still on here, will you please contact me??).  Does anyone know who Gross was bred to in southwestern PA?  If anyone has ANY info please let me know.  I won't rest until I figure this out. You are welcome to PM here or at cpassarell@hotmail.com

Thanks in advance.

Is it Ciera or Cira? Cira Z Javorove Zahrady is owned by Springfalls shepherds in Canada springfalls@mountaincable.net .

CKC can tell you who the registered parents are  and it ought to be on the papers....from ckc    you cant register a ckc dog unless the parents are akc and they have the number of those two.....I have heard of them registering a dog that was of a breed but the papers will say    not a purebred breeding.....check your paperwork   ...

The akc name should show in your dogs registration   they use the same akc name on the ckc paper...,,

I wouldnt hesitate to go to the breeder and ask for the real  names of the dogs and ask for a picture or some details ....tell them you are makeing a show book     dont accuse them of anything    you dont know anything , yet.

Then akc can also tell you if that those parents are  really registered and you can get the numbers...and probably if  posted here can find who owns both dogs.....

Patience..

Learned a lesson , Im sure.

I have the information on my dogs parents, I don't have the pedigree though.  It's the sire's info that is in question and if you go to their (CKC's) website you have to mail a form and it requires the breeder's signature.  I don't really understand this since I paid for my dog's registration, I should be entitled to his pedigree, but that's what it says.  If I could do it over the internet it would be much easier.  If I get the breeder to agree I'll have to mail them the form and have them send it on to CKC, pain in the butt and I don't know that it will happen if you know what I mean.  I do know that his parents have AKC registration but I would need their AKC numbers to find out.  I may have a lead at Springfalls as stated above, I'll try there.  Thank you so much for the infrmation, it's a start.  I really appreciate it!

I spoke to Cindy from SpringFalls Shepherds in Canada and she's pretty certain Link's sire was from a breeding of Ciera's littermate, Cira and Gross, she's Cira's current owner.  She's digging for an email she has and will let me know when she finds it to verify this 100%.  I'd like to thank those of you who gave me the information I needed to find her and end my search.  I was going crazy for quite some time, I should've known to ask here first.  My mind is at ease and Link can rest in my heart  peacefully for the rest of my days.  It just makes me feel better that it was a typo as opposed to an outright  misrepresentation.  You have restored my faith in my fellow man.

Thanks again, I really appreciate it!
