This is probably petty but I've been seeing it more and more. People naming their dogs with kennel names that do not belong to them. Case in point. www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/pedigree/521002.html This pup has nothing to do with Antverpa or Wildsau and if I owned either of those kennels I wouldn't be happy. Sire of the litter is too young to even be OFA'd and neither are titled. It's a slap in the face to breeders who have worked hard to gain their good reputations.
Rant done for the day.

I don't think its'petty and I agree with you. If those german kennels registered their kennel names with the AKC this could be reduced, but that shouldn't be necessary. I have to admit I have less sympathy for Wildsau than Antervpa, as the Wildsau stud was used on a bitch whose breeder gave over breeding rights to the owner of the sire without even asking for an OFA. Or so it appears in the pedigree. The breakdown came back to haunt them.

I guess this one particularly annoys me because this breeder does this constantly with all her dogs. Even with dogs she buys from other breeders...she just seems to change the names willy nilly. Good example of false advertising to people that don't know any better.

I wrote a comment to that effect.

I will certainly agree it's completely tacky for a breeder to add a famous name to a dog, or to misrepresent any dog. The thing is though, who is fooled? Anyone knowledgable in the breed is not fooled, and in fact scorns those who would perpetrate such lies. Newbies? Well, maybe so, but it's difficult to feel too sorry for the fool who buys a dog on impulse or does not do satisfactory research before buying. The thing is, crooks lie in wait for those who don't know a "deal too good to be true is too good to be true". This is one of those unfortunate facts of life. There will always be fools & those who take advantage of them.

What about this for annoyance then, and I cant seem to get through to them. I a very special picture taken, many years ago of a litter of puppies that we bred, and it has become known as the "mascani" picture. I have had it appear on the front of the National Breed Magazine, and it is at the forefront of our website.
A site in Belgium, has "pinched" it. I have the copyright, but we didnt put it on there to be fair - so felt the Belgian people just didnt know, and we wanted just an acknowledgement if they were to use it.... cant get a reply from them,, cant get any form of communication back, and its on their homepage !!! Really annoying me.
Hope they read this board, then perhaps they would be good enough to contact me.

I am pretty sure these people are in your home state. Why don't you go pay them a "visit"?
Is it a possibility that these people are just ignorant and think that you have to incorporate a previous name into the puppies name, like they do with horses and show dogs? Is it also a possibility that these people are so ignorant that they don't even know that those are kennel names?

Mo,
You might want to contact their web host and let them know that it is your picture and ask that it be removed.
