OFA compares them to a Bordlerine (in between fari and mild)
Just my Opinion
If she was x-rayed at 12 months then I would resend them in to SV, OFA or Penn (which ever one you chose) and they should have a new score either Fair or Mild .
Many German dogs are worked and bred with that score.

I,ve been looking at a lot of pedigrees and it,s in many i look at (1) ans (2) but it,s just tough trying to make a decision on this I really like the pedigree and the other info i,ve gotten on the dog ... just conflicted i guess.

Do you plan on breed with this dog?

Possibly to my Male after she is titled and kored. if all goes well, he is ofa good with out any hip problems in the pedgree that i could find his siblings are ofa good .but yes the purchase is to eventually breed .

Somebody we have the highest respect for just explained to us why she will not breed dogs with a2 hips/elbows. The comparison range between OFA and a2 is too wide in her opinion. Based on her input we will no longer consider breeding males or females with a2 hips.

OFA compares a3 as mild/moderate, not a2. If it weren't for breeding with a2' and yes even a3's we would have eliminated quite a few amazing dogs from the gene pool. For example V Fax vom Haus Bernhart-Mader, Art z Lipin(his grand-sire CACT,6*UMCR WUSV-FCI Cak z Labskeho ramene who had borderline hips) even Ben z Bolfu, yes him. Without Ben there would be no Grim. Grim was a great dog in many ways bred to the RIGHT females. Don't you have Grim in your dogs and you are breeding with them right? It is just a matter of selection. A good and knowledgeable breeder knows how to select the right male and female for their program JMO!

TrP K9 I was going to see if it was just a working/sport dog or a breeding dog. My point was going to be if you are going to breed then have a stronger partner .
and yes there are many great dogs that have borderline and have made some of the top dogs hell there are even some with worse ( ie Klara z PS) but like you said and where I was going is that they need to be bred to strong producer in the hips.
One has to look at the whole dog - working drives, temperament, structure and genetic when choosing a breeding or a sport dog.
If she has what you are wanting in a dog then make sure you breed her to a stronger hip producer.

So you bred you Clarice to Hannibal right? You line bred on Grim 4-4 and on Ben 5-5. I guess you consider Clarice and Hanibal to be strong partners to create a line breeding on questionable hips. I am just saying why is it so bad to have a2 hips and breed to them if you did the Ben line breeding and he had a 0/2 Czech rating which is considered OFA mild?

I would look deeper into the pedigree and at this dogs siblings to see what his or her parents produce hip wise and maybe get a new xray as some dogs hips will look better at 2 yrs over 1 yr. I know a breeder that bought a male that was Noch. Zug at a 1yr and OFA d Excellent at 2 yr but he was slow to mature and came from a great hip background.
