Reading the Mohnweise website made me think of Prestons':  http://www.schutzhundtracking.com/

This is an example of someone who is really great at the sport taking the time to help out the rest of us.  His website is fantastic, and very easy to understand.  I figure it must take a lot of time to develope a site like this, and for no other reason than to extend a hand to others.  I don't know what motivates people like this, but  I am sure as hell grateful for it.

Ditto, Sue!! I have never met Preston, but clearly he is one of those people who "make" the sport: those that give of themselves and their time to assist the organization (and therefore the membership) and, as you said, extend their hands to all by simply SHARING what they know and learn. This is sooooo very different than some who may have been very active "yestercentury" who still practically introduce themselves with " I was on the USA World Team in 1912." ... with a "bought dog" and haven't done a thing since! LOL those folks can never be "accused" of helping anyone else in the sport, either. In fact, they are usually the first to denegrate everyone else. Nia

Thanks, sue!

That site is so informative, it was relaxing to see the black shepherd sniff along,
and then down when he found the item!

This is a pic of my dog Theo's great-great-great-grand-sire!

I owned his daughter back in the 80's but didn't know what I had.
Also the nicest photo of a dog I have ever seen!
I lost his pic & the lady that owned him just mailed one to me.
He had one good nose!

He is:  New Skete's Halo of Lockwood  UDTX FH 1

That's very neat that the lady sent you a copy of the lost photo.  Is this an american bloodline dog?  I'm wondering what year the dog got his FH.  If it was in the 70s, I would imagine he was probably among the very earliest dogs to attain that title  here in the USA.  In any case,  I think he is a gorgeous dog, by any standard.

For me, tracking is my very favorite part of schutzhund.

Sue,

You are so right, at the time, I think he was the only dog around to acheive his UDTX,
or only GSD at the time, I don't have his exact B-day, I'll ask her for it.
Halo was bred by the monks of New Skete, in New York!   So I guess he's American.

I'll get back to you on that, she does tracking and is a member or on the board
for her tracking club, her name is: Marianne Wood, from Ayer, Ma. if you look up

tracking on the AKC site, you'll find Marianne, I have never met her in person, but have

written to her off & on over the years, I'm pretty sure she titled her own dog, and I've
got to ask her if she took that picture!

She also said he got his international FH 1, if that makes any difference.
