Does anyone know how long it should take for a ruptured ear drum to heal ? My 8 month developed a slight head tilt about 6 weeks ago. The second day after his head tilt he started loosing balance and could barely walk. I  rushed him to the ER Vet who said he had a ruptured ear drum and inner ear infection. After baytril for a few days his loss of balance improved and his personality returned but the head tilt remains the same. Yesterday the Vet  did a follow up and said the Ear Drum was still ruptured and he cleaned some debris out of his other ear. He now has him on some type of drops with baytril included in the mix. I would appreciate any advice.

Hi Outlaw,

I don't think the ruptured ear drum will heal.  Our 8 year old male has had ear problems since he got a seed in it as a puppy.  There have been ongoing problems ever since.  We found out that his ear drum was ruptured about 18 months ago.  It is just a question of managing the situation daily.  I found that continual use of ear drops ended up with the ear becoming inflamed whatever was put in .  He is just about allergic to all type of drops now.  The only thing that doesn't make it more sore and takes the swelling down is Colloidal Silver which is  very gentle, but is a natural antibiotic.

Hope this is of some help.    Jeannette.
