A friend of mine showed me a really nice article in Ladies Home Journal (November issue) about a stray GSD. He found a woman who had been in an auto accident, dragging her to a road where he waited with her until a passing car spotted them. The previous owner, who had neglected him before he escaped, agreed to relinquish ownership and, dubbed "Hero", is now in training for SAR in Georgia. Really nice story, if you get a chance check it out!

I just read that story yesterday,
in the doctors office, It was a really good story,
I just couldn't understand why the lady didn't keep the dog that was her
hero, but then when it said he is in training to rescue others, it sounded
like the perfect job for him.
More positive PR for the GSD!

I remember this from several months ago. Don't recall source, but my 2nd-hand source was Free Republic.

I think the lady he rescued had some "issues". She said she had had a fight with her husband and was very angry just before the accident. I don't think her home situation is the greatest and the poor thing probably would have ended up in another neglectful situation. To her credit, she knew he'd be better off with someone else. I think everything worked out for the best all the way around! He now has a job that he was made for!
