How does one propose killing for game management conservation?
Are you aware of the vastness & sheer size of Alaska? The difficulty in calling? The inefficiency of it?
A hunter can trap..More Cruel. A hunter can call..inefficient. Or one can shoot from a plane. Yes a follow up shot is often needed when a shotgun with buckshot is used from 40yds out.
I take it most here arent from Wisconsin, N Michigan, Idaho, Montana or Minnesota and have never Lost their pets or hunting dogs, whether beagles, pointers, hounds or even sheep dogs to wolves, which Pack up on a dog, ham string em, stretch them out and rip them apart.
This Happens more & more as there is no game season on wolves in lower 48. DNR is making a mess of this, entire deer populations are being decimated in many northern states. Some hunters now practice the 3s.
Shoot, Shovel, Shut up.

I think I know what kind of person you are. I myself am COMPLETELY against aerial shooting. These animals are making a come back! Let's give them a chance before we decide we need to "manage" their population. When they start killing people is when we should go on the offensive. But I doubt a sane wolf would never hurt a human. Never has happened, never will. Believe me, i've done my research.

Wolves Making a come back? They flourished in Alaska, always have least the last 60+ years with conservation laws. Wolves have no natural predators to speak of...the ultimate killer. I respect them, but they like all game animals, must be managed. In dense areas in canada, you can stand hunt. In Alaska due to sheer size, you cannot.
Hunting has nothing to do with "competition" but management. Hunters were the ones that established wetlands for ducks & waterfowl, game seasons etc. We are the ones who report what we see, cover, habitiat, numbers that provides the input for game decisions.
In Northern states ie Minnesota & Wisconsin, Idaho, Yellowstone etc deer & Elk populations are way down. Way down. I put off an elk hunt in ID this year, too far & few between & a costly hunt. Introduces wolves are THE Culprit.
And yes, they are killing machines, ask a sheep farmer. Wolves kill because they can, sometimes alot more than they can eat, A rancher may find dozens of carcasses-almost a blood lust with wolves moreso than other predators.
A hunter cannot cover the area (hundreds of square miles) effectively in a packs range, to call them in. Trapping is cruel imo, so an aerial hunt is the only other option, unless more hunters participate in a required game hunt,..
Ashely-I dont let my dogs hunt game Im not interested in- I wouldnt allow them to wolf chase either.
