I decide to buy dog,    I send inquiry,  I hear back and things are RUSHED, because there are others looking at dog,  so I send deposit,  NO REFUND DEPOSIT,  on NO guarantee other than sound, and good temperament,  NO OTHER OR specific guarantee....   The WIRE because shipper does not accept check or money order,  costs me 65.00  Then decide well if I can get this dog and other dog to arrive in Portland on same day that would be VERY good !!

So I send rest of Payment for dog,  + 75.00 "handleing" fees, (Headache fees)  + 60.00 Health check,   Costs me another 57.00 to wire money.

Dog missed first round of flights.... So I get charged 5.00 per day boarding fee until next flight is arranged.....

So now I have to pay Crate Fee and boarding fee, before dog is shipped,  So I buy Money Order this time,  have owner of Mailing company sign the copy and fax copy to shipper she agrees to ship dog,  But says will withhold papers until ALL fees are paid,  well I faxed copy that the stuff was in the mail......am still waiting confirmation that papers are coming.....

Then dog finally gets to Airport, Shipper leaves, Then dog freaks out,  and rips food and water dishes off of crate while acting VERY aggressive to everyone at the airport, THEY call shipper, NO ANSWER,  SO they decide NOT to put him on the plane,  Airline can't get ahold of shipper,  so they call ME !!    Finally get dog calmed down without help of shipper,  and get dog on next flight,  dog gets to DENVER,  and dog is LOOSE on the freaking plane because HE ATE HIS CRATE !!!!,  Denver Airport, calls PD and AC  Airline calls me threatening to Euth dog because ONCE AGAIN they are unable to contact shipper,  I finally talk them OUT of killing the dog....  Then they call saying they are going to overnight him at a boarding fac.  I say NO,  send him on,  They say we have to tranq him and need shippers permission to do so or a fax from you,  I ask restaurant if they have FAX and fax the damn paper,  NO VET shows up !!    Airline calls once again we may have to euth the dog....   I say PUT HIM ON THE FREAKING PLANE !!!!   STILL can NOT get ahold of Shipper !!!!

Finally call back and say he is in a crate and on the plane,  Gets to Portland,  Stupid little man driving little car pulling cart with crate on it,  pulls in yelling German Shepherd Crazy,  was loose in Denver,  slams on the brakes tips crate rolling it twice so now it's upside down and slams crate into front of cart,   I"M SO PISSED !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will NEVER ship another dog in my entire LIFE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have any of you had something like this happen ??????????????????

PS,

Dog I shipped from NEW YORK, arrived in EXCELLENT condition,  Perfect Temperament, Shipper answers Phone EVERY time she was called,   Arrangements were Hassle FREE,  No Headache fees, this dog was 1/2 the price NO boarding fee, and she accepted MY Personal Check and sent papers with the dog...   Go figure !

I sent her an additional 175.00 for her kindness, cooperation, and for her trip to drive dog to airport,  again personal check....

Wow what a nightmare!  If I'm shipping an animal I ALWAYS make sure I'm close to the phone in case something goes wrong.  I had to drive an extra 3 hours one day just to pick the animal up because the temp went above 85 in the city she was supposed to be delivered to.  If I hadn't been near the phone I would of been wondering where the heck she was and she would of been sitting there for who knows how long.  The shipper was also someone that was very concerned about a safe flight for her animal and we were in constant contact.

I also avoid asking people to wire money at all costs.  That's why I have a Paypal account.   It sounds like this person just wanted your money and the dog out of there as quickly as possible.  He/she should of also known that the dog may freak out when left alone in a strange place.

So sorry you went through such an awful experience.  That kind of stress will kill you!  How does he seem this morning?

"will have necessary bloodwork, sperm count, and other done tomorrow..."

You bought the dog without having this information ahead of time?

I have shipped some dogs to other people but never heard anything like that happening to someone.

Sorry to hear that you had to go through all that.

When one thing goes wrong other just follow until you have entire s..t storm. No explanation just ONE OF THOSE DAYS.

sounds like the dog has some issues.  It's very lucky that the airline was so helpful and willing to A) ship the dog if he was ripping and tearing and acting aggressive in the first place - they didn't have to.  B) not only catch the loose dog on the plane, but handle him, get him in a crate that wasn't "eaten", secure him, and put him on another flight knowing that he was aggressive/eating crates/loose on the previous flight - they didn't have to do that either.  C) not just "euthanizing" (shooting) him when they found him loose on the plane - they could have done that and it would have been easier for them to do so than dealing with a loose possibly freaked out and aggressive dog loose on their plane.   It is pretty amazing that you got this dog at all, you should thank the airline for being VERY nice to you and the dog!    Hope the dog settles in and has a nice temperament and doesn't have the issues it sounds like he has.  No more flying anywhere for him!

Holy cow.  What an awful experience.  Was it the same airline also in both cases?  I would like to know which airlines threaten to euthanize a dog that got out so I DON'T use that one if I ever have to ship.
