Hello everyone, I was scrolling down through the posts and found were numerous people had told how much there males weighed. What about your females? We have a female pup right now that is VERY small! Her sister is on her way as a replacement, however we'll be keeping both. Our original female was NOT the runt of the litter when we picked her, she was right in the middle of the pack, with the most drive of the litter at that point in time. I have been told that some dogs are bred even if their size isn't satisfactory, if they have other great qualities to pass on, such as hip/elbow ratings, drive, etc. Don't know what the future holds for her as for hips/elbows, but there's no doubt in our trainers mind that the little girl can't do very, very well in the sport, we are all just concerned about breeding. She is 5 months old now and the vet cannot find anything wrong with her health. The rest of the pups from this litter are all doing fine.
Thank you,
Tyler

I have a very good female who is considered large medium, per her breed survey, and she weighs in at 58lbs. I like my dogs lean and muscular. Her older half sister is considered a large female per breed survey and weighs in at 64lbs. My working line female is a large female without breed survey who weighs in at 70lbs, but she is taller and longer than my other females.
I have seen females at 45lbs that were dynamite in small package. Nothing wrong with them at all.

How old is the pup right now and working or show lines?
I'm thinking back and my females (west German working lines) are usually around 30lbs at 3 months old. 50lbs at 6 months and as adults can range from 60-80 lbs. Of course this is just an estimate. They can slow way down or shoot up suddenly. Some lines mature more slowly like DDR dogs.

Thank you DeesWolf, She only weighed 17 lbs at her 16 week (4mth) checkup, where as the rest of the litter weighed almost twice that much. I don't know how large she'll end up getting...

She is from working lines, with both parents considered large. I'm going to try to post her link...Avoid her pic, that was when she was a baby.

Let me guess...you're in Florida...and I know these lines very well...I have a littermate to the mother...very nice girl and good size...I also know the father very well...Good sized dog...and produces well...I think maybe this girl will shoot up at some time...they usually all catch up sooner or later...I don't think I'd worry about it...
What club do you belong to?...

EMTTGT06,
Can we see a picture of her, I love pics!
My Theo that weighs 70 pounds at 2 years, had a littermate,
that was the runt of the litter out of 12 pups.
I thought for sure she wouldn't grow, she grew to
be bigger than Theo, they stopped by for a visit,
the pup was named "Das" and unfortunately she got
killed by a car, but the owner has bought a house with
a fenced in yard, and is getting another girl from me.
She took great care of her "Das", it was tragic.
The puppy "Das" is on my web-site,
her puppy then dog pic. She was the toughest rugged pup in the litter!
She's on the Theo Von Ryan's page,
Some pups may be slow to grow, someone had mentioned
that in a different post. Feed her good & exercise, also check for
parasites, but if the vet says she's healthy, she's healthy, and that's
what matters most!

Bob,
I actually live in NE Kansas. My wife and I drove to Florida to get this girl. The breeder is sending another female up as a replacement pup. I think she is kinda stumped as to why she hasn't kept up with the rest of the litter and also doesn't want any unhappy customers. I don't think she'll ever have that problem though, she does an amazing job.

She's beautiful!!!
Probably just a slow grower!
