If they had the drive, would you buy one of these puppies. People keep saying that they don't plan to breed, so if you know the dog is full blooded, then what's the big fuss over the papers. Really AKC papers don't even tell you anything about their pedigree status, anyone can lie.

No, but I will always have breeding in mind, or should I say the future of the breed.  Not that I will ever necessarily breed a litter myself, but if I have a male that tuns out awesome I feel it would be a waste not to be able to contribute back to the breed.

I suppose for some people they might not mind, but for me...I would never want my GSD to labeled a MIX in his scorebook...it's a matter of principle!  And what for???  To save a few bucks????

If you only want a house pet, pedigree and papers may not matter.  I am sure that most people in the world that own a gsd don't know how to read a pedigree or would even know the dogs in the pedigree.  The majority of Gsd's in the world are pets with owners that don't do sport, work, or show the dog.  They could care less what the pedigree states as long as they have a purebred.

First of all, no , I wouldnt buy one of these pups.....the male is a pd dog and the papers for that dog lay in the hands of the department of the city tht owns the dog....

I have seen this happen so  many time, especially since I worked in two departments dog  programs and my stud stolen by the trainer of one of those departments...I held the papers on my stud, he was on consignment...

That male got bred to three females in Houston Texas without my knowledge until the day we arrested the trainer...He sold those pups all over Texas ... one lady found me three years ago and Another officer of another department near by , helped him sell the pups.....boy were there some mad people when he promised papers and kept telling people the papers were in germandy....Court documents are public and you may read them any time you want.., as he was charged with three felonies and the pups in question were a part of that case....because one of the buyers of said pup was a deputy of that department working with him......so why help someone out that slides off the proper way to do business....

Many officers of K9;s belonging to a department , go behind the backs of their dept,  and breed the male or female ,which ever, and sell the pups.....this one may be on the up and up    his Department may havae given him permission....but why if they did , did they not just let him register them>>>>>>> ?

Personally me no! Just because the parents are from "police K-9s" does not make thier off spring any more promising then a sport or national dog. If I was looking just for a "pet" again no! why would I pay all that when I can go to a shelter and rescue a dog (save a life). But that is just me.

Besides you really can not look up any health problems or know what is in the back lines of the Sirer.

The drive for what?

I could consider a litter like that.  If someone is looking for a sport dog, and is not interested in breeding, then why not?  Prices on pedigreed pups have gotten seriously inflated.  Potential is as potential does.  At my club we've got a chick doing SchH with a lab/shep mix that she got at the pound.  Going to the Nationals?  No.  Having fun training?  Yes.

Now if this is somehow an "illegal" practice, against department policies, using a stolen dog, etc.  well then clearly it's a foul deal.  But how is anyone to know that anyway?

My first thought is always working ability. Being a malinios guy who is into PSA and Police Service, papers mean jack squat to me. The only thing papers are good for is to get more money for your dogs.

You bring up a very good point about people lying about pedigrees. Happpens all the time. Malinios people don't really make a big deal about it but even suggest to a GSD person that there dog's pedigree is not correct and you are in for some serious shit. I GUARANTEE there are many, many, many incorrect GSD pedigrees in the world.

The best dog breeders in the world are the Dutch and the Belgians. I don't care what anyone tries to tell you, Dutch and Belgian breeders with mix breeds and fake papers. They also produce the best dogs in the world (IMHO). KNPV malinios breeders keep extensive records and know their lines inside and out. The only difference is you may see a malinios, or Dutch Shepherd, or GSD somewhere in there. They don't give a shit, they just want a good working dog. The NVBK Belgian Ring are somewhat the same. They know the lines and what the dogs are, they just fake the papers. Why do you think they fake papers? Money.

The female's pedigree is not bad (if it is correct) If the male was a kick ass patrol dog I would definately give one of these pups a try for $400.00. But that is just me. I don't compete in Sch and I don't have a huge desire to sell puppies for $1500-$2000. I just want a good healthy working dog.

The least that should be considered is hip and elbow certification on the parents. Do they have any?
