Come on somebody that knows what they're looking at has got to have an opinion.

I am no expert but I feel the hind legs are too long and over angulated.  I can't see enough of her face to know if I like her expression.  The shoulder looks good to me and maybe it's the stack but she looks a little roach back to me or is it the croup?  Pasterns look strong.  The front end is better than the back end IMHO.  Don't take anything I say to heart because I am learning more each day...the most significant thing I can say is she looks nothing like my girl and that' not necessarily a bad thing.  Enjoy her.  I'm sure she is like all GSDs, a joy to own.

Thankyou for your reply , it is the stack that is making her look like she has a roach back as she hasnt got one at all .
I thought i might have more replies but obviously not ????

I like darker pigmentation.

She has a lot of "air" underneath her

Front looks nice

For me it is so hard to just look at one photo and make a fair judgement.

How is her temperment? Does she work?

by kacha35 on 11 September 2009 - 18:09

Her temperament is excellent , she is a pleasure to take everywhere .
I'll try and post some other pics of her so you can critique her properly .

well, I am not one who can offer any comments other than that she looks like a wonderful dog.  I like the picture with her tongue lol.  reminds me of my dog, always thirsty and as intolerant of the heat as her owner.  Nice, delicate features and rich colors.  I love dark faces against the tan/red.  Mine has that right now also, but she is only 6 months old so I don't know if there is a chance it will change.

It looks like a lot of folk are looking at her as if in the showring comparing her physic or how they think it should be,
more important to me is how is she in protection side does she have that little something extra that we working line folk are looking for regarding a Pup of her age, However even if she does not she is a good looking girl and will fill out to make a nice dog,
On the working field colour does not bother me or the dog, it's what is inside and what comes out is the most important

How very true Steve!  I love her face, the eyes say it all don't they.

Ok, you asked for it.  This dog looks weak and I suspect very poor in working activities.  Her head is narrow, peakly, and not impressive at all.  Her chest is too high off the ground as with her stomach.  Her thrusters, back legs, would never bring forth a serious bite.  The tail looks like it has no volume to it at all.  In REAL protection work the tail balances the thrusters.  I had a dog that looked very similar to once I kept as a pet.  I loved her dearly and she is buried off my back deck.  I think of her often.  As far as a working dog, Lana appears to be well off the breed standard.  There is a reason for the measurements because the body does matter when you are woking a dog.  I have a Schh 3 female and she is low to the ground, huge head, bushy tail, and deep chest with deep angulation.  Her long bite will take down most helpers.

I do like the coat colors and the black mask.  That is very cool.
