Looking around at varieties of dog food in PetSmart last night and came across this Blue Buffalo - Wilderness. Has anyone ever tried and if so, what were the results?

I tried it once when they had the HUGE dogfood recall and my good dogfood hadn't come in yet - it was the only thing at the time that the ingredients looked decent and hadn't been recalled. The dogs HATED IT. They let it sit in the bowl for a couple days. It's big and bone dry and they just hated it. They ended up recalling some of their stuff , too...You can go to http://www.bluebuff.com and read more, but I'm not crazy about it mostly because the dogs hated it and I can get better dogfood for close to the same price.

I feed Blue Senior to some of my dogs and they love it and are really doing good on it. Coats are great, and my 13 1/2 and 14 1/2 year old are doing a lot better on it. The recall only invovled their can food and dog biscuits.

Have friends who use it. But they ad the oils and yogurt and raw meat to it.

Blue Wilderness is a 6 Star rated food. I highly recommend it for your GSD. My dog loves it so much that I can use it for training treats. Her vet was is impressed by her growth, shiny coat and overall health, all of which I attribute to this excellent product. It is a high protein formula providing everything your GSD needs. Best of all, it is free of fillers, preservatives and all the bad stuff that will suck the life out of your dog, leading to obesity, lethargy, illness and premature death. You may wish to visit the following site. It is an excellent resource providing you with all the information you need to make the best choice for your pet. I hope this is helpful.

My best friend feeds it to her dog and has for some time, I've never tried it but she just had her dog come up with bloat and had to have emergency surgery to the tune of about $4000 when it was all said and done. Not real sure if the particular food you feed contributes to bloat but that's what she was feeding when her dog got sick. I'll stick with my Solid Gold, dogs love it, they look fantastic and as long as I don't think about how much I spend every month on food then it sits well with me. lol

iT HAS NOT BEEN PROVEN WHAT NUMBER ONE OR TWO THINGS CAUSE BLOAT A VARIETY OF FACTORS ARE INVOLVED INCLUDING HOW YOU FEED A BIG DOG AND WHEN AND HOW MUCH AND WHAT TEMPERATURE AND WHAT CONDITIONS THE DOG IS IN......NOT JUST ONE FACTOR GOOGLE BLOAT AND READ RESEARCH ON IT...VETS HAVE LOTS OF IDEAS BUT THEY DONT RAISE BIG BREED DOGS AND THEY ARE TH OWNERS OF THESE DOGS FOR 30 YEARS.....ANCESTERS HAVE BLOAT AND SO IS IT PASSED ON? SOME SAY YES ,,,OTHERS SAY NO
I , JUST KNOW ,,FEED SMALLER AMOUNTS OF DRY FOOD,,,,,,ADD SALMON OIL , A LITTLE HOT WATER AND MIX WITH CHICKEN OR HAMBURGER OR SOMETHING WET....FEED 2TIMES A DAY AND MAKE SURE YOUR DOG DRINKS WATER SLOWLY AND NOT HOT WHEN HE DRINKS......PUT UP DOG TO KOOL OFF,,,,DO NOT DRINK WATER WHEN DOG HAS BEEN WORKING OR IS HOT WITH HIS TONGUE HANGING OUT...GIVE HIM A SIP AND PUT UP TILL COOL...THEN LET HIM DRINK SMALL AMOUNTS......ALSO A DOG THAT DOESNT GET ENOUGH WATER DURNG A DAY ,,,,CAN DRINK TOO MUCH TOO LONG AND IF DRY FOOD IS IN STOMACH ,,,IT CAN SWELL.....SOME LINES SEEM TO HAVE HEREDITATY TRAITS TOWARD THEIR ANCESTOR HAVEING ALL HAD BLOAT IN THEIR PROGHENY.....
JUST STUDY YOUR LINE AND ASK QUESTIONS OF YOUR FORMER OWNERES AND BREEDERS.....

First Class Reply Yellow Rose.
Racing Pigeons are the same, if you let them drink there fill of Cold Water or in deed Air tempeture water Young Birds more so will go down Ill when they have been racing for several hours in the heat of the day or in fact a normal day, what happens to them is that there system stops working
It is like a Car Radiator which has run out of water ,then the owner pours in Cold Water on the Overheated system some thing gives and i think the same when a Bird or in this case Dog has exerted itself,
iI is best to let the system or insides of the animal cool down before giving any water or just a sips are given
With the Pigeons i have done this for over 50 years and about the same time wIth Dogs
