Anyone out there see the results of this tight line breeding from Tiekerhook? Nick speaks for himself as well as Max, but I was wondering if anyone has seen any of these dogs in person and can comment on how they are, nerves, etc.

I am sure that if Koos is doing it, it is excellent. I just wonder out of a litter like that how many excellent ones and how many not so good pups there are with that kind of breeding since you get the best and worst traits of the dogs involved.

3-2 on Nick with Branko as the sire is nice too. I am sure that there are some that think 2-2 is too tight to breed from, but if it works, it works. Considering a puppy from one of those breedings.

Anyone?

I thought you were looking for A-litter Bracheler see?  What happened to that?

I wouldn't have a problem with a 2,2 Nick breeding. That would also concentrate Blue Scipio's blood. I loved Blue and arned near everything he produced.

Don, I have always liked Nick as well as Amigo, they were both really good dogs.  I have worked dogs from both lines and it is a matter of personal preference, Nick lines seem to be a little more intense. I am sure some would say otherwise.

You cant really go wrong with either dog. Glad to see you are checking up on me though.............

Thanks!

HAJADA,

I have a 3-2 Nick / Branko son. He is an amazing dog although he is just 5 months old. But he is laready showing terrific aggression, Fighting instinct and solid nerves.

Check out Wolff Van Tiekerhook. He is 2-2 Nick. Bombastic dog. I have seen this dog in person in Belgium.

He is SUPER

2-2 is no problem take my word.

Nick was an excellent producer and a terrific dog

cheers

it's a crap shoot.  for every good one I think theres a bad one.  I have seen more bad nerves than good from Nick lines, but hey, they were all with novices, and that's where the crap gets dumped

Drew,

I would be really keen on knowing which Nick offsprings have you seen crappy. Because the combination bitch also has an equal if not more important effect on the litter. The stud is not the end and all.

Please enlighten us all with the crappy Nick progeny. I would be very interested in knowing

cheers

Also, besides psyhcological traits what are the health implications for a 2/2  breeding on Nick? People talk about hybrid vigor & outcross for this. Does anyone have any experience regarding the health of this 2/2 linebreeding?

Nick what a super producer. one of the all time greats..2-2 on any dog no matter how great he/she is  not something most breeders would enterain..to many  health issues and nerve problems  not related to Nick s lines but from the close breeding. I dont have research on close breeding other than seeing these issues on close breed dogs. Just a opinion I prefer total outcrosses with no common relatives for at least five generations. Marlene

I've never seen a Nick son or daughter I didn't like. Further, Nick's litter mates were very good dogs who went on to produce very well. I particularly liked Nicko, the IMAGE of old Blue Scipio, a very nice dog himself, but overshadowed by brother Nick with Franz Gugnon in Baunatal with a "normal" handler (Place 72)

Interesting factoid: ALL of Nick's littermates, males AND female, have produced very impressively, many titled KK dogs, themselves producing same nowwadays. Sister Nixe produced a 4x BSP participant... a FEMALE named Esta Nicholasusstrasse. Sister Natja produced WUSV participant Bantam Kirchberghof, (from Quincy Waldwinkel)  Full-brother Jaro Ruhbachtal (LGA) produced Casar von Irrbuhl (291 pts. in SchH3, KK1) among others. Natz produced several titled sons from limited breeding opportunities. Nick's half brother V Hank Sunnenbrink  was 2x in the FCI championship. Half-sister Hanni produced another WUSV participant, Index Cap Arcona. I could go one but time forbids. Between them they produced an extraodinary percentage of KK1 dogs with normal hips...

Hard to turn one's back on that kind of prepotence!

did they produce a few bums? sure. What oft-bred dog has not? But given the variety of bloodlines Half/Nick were crossed on, you have to admit they have a stellar record overall.

Just my two cents worth...
