I'm looking forward into changing my cell phone provider to Cingular now ATT wireless. I was wondering if anybody has experience with this provider and what was/is your experience with the company?
I have another question. Does anybody here have a Blackberry Curve? If so how would you rate it? And how many times does it break down?
I was thinking about buying the Iphone but when I was at the ATT wireless store checking the Iphone out, I've notice when you try to punch in a letter, often the letter from the left side comes up and not the letter that you chosen.I wasn't to happy with what I saw with this Phone that made sucha headlines in the media.

I have had the best results and service out of all from Cingular. reception is great everywhere and little or no dropped calls! I strongly reccomend it over others.

I 'm in Eastern Mass. and had Cingular for years. I put up with dropped calls, poor signal quality in many areas and dead spots on major highways. Switched to Verizon this past spring and found it far superior in every way.
That said, you should probably ask people where you live about this, as I'd guess - as in the case with Vom Brunhaus' positive experience with Cingular - a given provider's quality of service probably varies from place to place, and what may be great in one area may not be the best in another.

I have had Cingular/ATT for many years (since cell phones weighed 8-10 lbs. and featured shoulder straps). I had Nextel and Verizon through my job so I had a lot of opp's for back-to-back comparison all over the country. ATT/Cingular has always knocked the competition clear out of the ballpark on every front, especially important when you consider I always have a Palm Treo and use the internet feature constantly for e-mail and browser. As far as signal strength, both voice and data transfer, and dropped calls, you can't beat ATT in my book. cingular's customer service was pretty poor till ATT took over again, but that service is back to its former efficiency now, and they reward customer loyalty handsomely if you call them up and bitch loud enough to a supervisor.

BTW: The absolute WORST company for droppin calls was Verizon. I threw my last "company" Verizon phone out the window of the van on the PA Turnpike at 65 mph after dropping a heavy sales call three times in 25 miles. I lost the sale, a BIG one, because the customer was so frustrated with my crappy cell service he wouldn't answer the phone the 4th time I redialed. My boss went to upper management and convinced them to reimburse my ATT expenditures on the non-merit of that experience while evryone else was stuck with those crummy Verizon phones.
I have always thought myself special... Ha ha ha. Never bothered about asking for/expecting more perks/leeway/privledges than my peers. ;) Maybe that's why I am unemployed now?

I have the congular 8125 and I LOVE IT...its my PDA, my note taker, my schedule, my phone, my internet, my reminders and my photostorage all rolled into one little neat package.
I was with sprint...I liked their service but the customer service was deplorable...cingulars is alot better, even if their network isnt as big. And they have the GSM network...which for me is a lifesaver since I travel to europe once a year for a few weeks to visit family.

I have been with AT&T/Cingular for years. I get the cheapest phones they sell and eveyone is envious how great the reception is. I have never had a dropped call and my phone always works, never broke a phone, except the one that went through the washing machine. Truth be told, I opened it up and let it air for 3 days and it worked again. We kept it as a back up incase my daughter lost another one. I love AT&T I use them on every service they offer.

I thnk alot of the droped calls are the quality of the phone. I had one of the first "candy" bar phones from sprint, made by Sony, this is back in 97 or 98. Everyone I knew complained about dropped calls, not me, maybe one a month. When I was forced to change phones, no longer making that one, I received dropped calls all the time. I now have a Treo 700p and it drops more calls than the Treo 680.
i would think that Cingular was decent on the calls, when Sony made the phones. For me the coverage is not enough. I honestly think it is in the phones and not the service if coverage is provided. I upgrade mine to often to not see a pattern.
