I am posting after quite a while. I was supposed to get my first GSD in September of this year from Randy Tyson. She bred her female to Janos Noriswand, but unfortunately the female did not whelp. I have spoken with several breeders and been to their kennel, but I felt very comfortable with Randy and have decided to go with her. My initial preference was to get a working GSD with the showline red/black look. I have been to her menlo park Schznd club and have seen quite a few working dog like Valee vom haus Tyson (owner Ganesh Krishna) with the showline look. Recently she had some pup from the breeding of Bonnie and Hector vom Talka Marda. Both parents are Sch3 and V rated.
Do you think that I should put more stress on her reco and suggestion about the dog and be flexible with the choice of showline color ? Also why are there no working like GSD available with red.black pigment ?
Thanks
Mastan

You can harldy go wrong with Randy Tyson. You will get a good dog, raised right, and the benefit of her and her husband's long experience for the life of the dog. MPSC is one of the best in the country. Have a great time with your new dog and your new friends.
Tell Randy I miss her!

Yes, I think you should be flexible about the color. Going to a reputable breeder is the most important thing you can do with regards to getting a GSD. The reason you don't see as many of the black & reds is color for the working lines dog breeders is not high up on the list of priorities. Dark pigment, yes, but color - not so much. Listen to Shelley, she knows what she's talking about.

I have a Witmer-Tyson male 13 months today in fact. I am more than please with my boy. He is from the Elton Pohranicni / Bony Jezcine sept 3 2006 litter. He is magnificent, needless to say I'm bias but he is beautiful. I was also considering the hector /bonnie litter. I decided to go with Vom banach kennel for my female and I am very pleased with her too. She's 4 months. I'll send a photo. Good luck!!!

I forgot to add that the reason I was looking at the Bony/ Hector combo was b/c I thought it would be close to what mine looks like.
Since you've been to Randy's place I don't have to tell you much, she's got beautiful, quality dogs. I think any of hers would be a good choice. If I had to decide on her current litters I would pick Bony/Hector. Again good luck.

Hi All:
Thanks for all your word of advice. I will be going to Randy's house this Saturdayto see the pup. My wife is very particular about the mask of the dog...she does not like the mask of sable GSD that lok more like wolf. But we have lots of faith in Randy....she knows our taste and if she says that this will be a good looking dog......it really must be....anyways we will know this saturday...

What a great looking puppy! LOVE the expression! The adult looks good too.
I am partial to black sables, as everyone probably already knows. I'll be showing three of them in St. Louis, and a med. gray female. Don't worry about the color too much. Randy will help you pick the right pup.
Again, good luck, and say hi to all my friends at MPSC. You're making me homesick.

Hi Ajay:
I know that you had bred Caasha to Hector. One of your dog that I saw in the Menlo Park Sch club, was one of the most impressive GSD that I had seen. His temperament was amazing and also was very good looking. I do not remember the name of the dog maybe Jared or Jarek....was that a Hector son ? I liked that dog, only concern is too much black and both me and my wife prefer the red black or tan/black GSD with the black being mainly on the saddle. I do not know how this pup looks...we will see this weekend. It seems that everyone is suggesting that I should be more flexible with the color, and pay more stress on the quality of the dog...
Ajay...what are your opinions on this litter ?
