I have noticed that the dog world is something like no other. There seems to be no medium in this world people either love you or hate you. Like to hear others opinions on this and hear your reasons why....

Because we're all pigheaded and opinionated?  Seriously.

Get a self esteem! Smile at the ones that love you. Tell the ones that hate you to kiss your ass

I always try to give kind words to others, everyone..... be nice

What goes around comes around...and around, and around....and around.....

All dogs are great - they're man's best friend....titled or not....

Keepzitreal pretty much summed it up. lol  In all honesty though I think the whole world is like that weather it be the dog world, business, your social peers ect ect.  Some people are jealous, some envious, some just plain miserable and hateful at the whole world.  Misery breeds misery is how I see it so I tend to stay clear of folks like that.  I'll be the first to tell someone "you got a kick ass dog, I'd love to have".  No jealousy or envy on my part.  But then again, I have no "business interest" and I am not a serious sport person either.

Different personalities in the dog world and if you're not a versatile person it makes it tough to find a group to run with without clashing with the others along the way.  I look at it this way...if they're talking about you then you must be doing something right or have something worth buzzing about OR you can also look at it another way; if they're talking about you then they are leaving some other poor soul alone. lol  Take it all in stride; there are some good folks out there.  Being new I can tell ya that at first I swore I had a walking billboard on my back that said "if you're crazy or have "issues" come be my friend. lol  Now a year later I have a better picture of who the nutt jobs are. lol

I posted the below, back in February, during a "tiff" between some regulars on this site.  It fits with this thread so I will post it again.

"Something occurred to me recently. Reading and being involved in some of these "tit-for-tat" postings.

There are many different types of people in this world (duh). Some are thrill seekers (sky divers and the like), some are people persons ("hey, how are you today" and those that love to entertain in their homes). Some are dog people.  How many times have you read on this dog site "I like my dogs more than I like people" or the famous "The more I know people, the more I like my dog". My point being, this site is "occupied" by mostly dog people, who do not normally like (except for their immediate families and one or two close friends) people, and just do not "relate" well with people. Passably well, but not really well.

This should help us understand why we (us dog people) do not communicate with other people without resorting to "corrections" and "praise". It is the kind of people who visit this site (there are exceptions of course). If someone comes on here with a question or comment about whatever, "we" will correct them or praise them, just like we would do our children or our dogs. Most of us dog people just do not "get along" well with people, at least not as well as those who are not dog people get along with other people. We make exceptions with other dog people sometimes, as long as they fit into our mold of what a person should be doing with their dogs.

If I state that I am going to breed untitled GSD', I will be "praised" by a few and "corrected" by many. We are a breed apart from other peoples. No better and no worse, just "dog people".

We need to understand this about ourselves and how we interact on this site. Make a comment here. Expect to be corrected or praised, but don't expect indifference.

Lets see the praise and corrections I get for this posting      Will it prove my theory?"

lol - smiling and nodding and essentially saying 'yes dear' is a good thing - it works with your spouse and I imagine it will work with other dog people O.o

I've definetley fallen in love with other people's dogs, and I have no problem telling their owners if they arent careful at night I might come in and steal their dogs because they are so awesome...then there's the dogs I dont like so much and I say what I like about them...but not the bad unless they want the criticism....I think thats some peoples problems (my grandmother in particular)....they like to give constructive criticism or just criticism in general even when it isnt desired...I've been guilty of it before too :(  Its a shield thing...people say I have a horrible dog and that she'll never be good for anything...I try to remember they dont know her and I just smile and nod, say yes dear, and walk away...or you can argue...but that can turn out bad unless you have alot of ammunition O.o

And alot of it is people think their dog is the best - its not about titles all the time either...lol, for example I personally think my father's/my mix Jay is the best dog on the planet, but that is because he is our little angel and has done more for my family than a two years of therapy could.

The personalities are both annoying and interesting...sometimes its just best to sit back and watch and enjoy the ride :p
