Apparently some people are not happy with our state just having passed some of the most stringent kennel laws in the country. Now they want to bring the same stuff to people like me.

Don't these folks understand that the huge puppy mills that make the big bucks will possibly comply, or just pay off  inspectors??? And that the small, committed to their breed type breeders, where quality animals come from, will become extinct? These types of regulations will eliminate any quality dogs from being produced in Pa, period! Another proof that most of our elected officials don't have the brains God gave a flea! jo

I hope PA  breeders and those who want to support them learn a lesson from what very nearly happened out here in California.  You guys need to organize and jump on this BEFORE it gets any momentum.  Squash it like a stinkbug.

Luckily, NO PA KENNEL LAWS WERE PASSED.  Yet.  They were brought before the PA committees and officials, and shot down by the small-scale kennel/breeders in the state - basically put back into the "research" mode again before probably being re-submitted again at some point.  Right now, no stringent kennel laws are in effect, past the regulations already in place.  What is in place is NOT strong enough IMO to regulate the puppy  mill operations.  However the new laws would not affect the puppy mills as much as cause them to go undercover or put a "front" in front of the real operations "in the back" - and seriously affect small breeders, boarding kennels and other dog-related businesses to the point of going out of business.  I am hopeful that whatever new regulations presented when the time comes, will be strict for the puppy mills, and fair for the small breeders and boarding kennels, all for the good of all of the dogs involved.
