i havent weighed boss in a long time...finally got around to doing that today......

i don't know how accurate it is....I had to hold hime while standing on the scale, then subtracted my weight....

he just turned 6 months , or about 6 months-

his weight was 61 lbs......and his height is 23 1/2 inch.....

does this sound OK? normal range for his age?

Goodness...he's gonna be a large one!!!! Can you see his ribs? Sounds a bit heavy to me, but with that height, I guess...I don't know, lets see what others think.

Sounds like he's going to be bigggg!  Chaos was 69 lbs. at 13 months.  He is 73.5 now at a 16 months.  He needs to put weight on but I don't want to pack it on too fast.

wow...thanks guys....i was thinking that was small..lol,<< ---retard

naya's mom....forgot to mention that i measured his height while sitting down...so im not sure how accurate that is either--but if its not right it very close......and no, you cant see his ribs all the time, but i wouldnt say he was fat at all...he is going through growth spurts where he will look a little heavy one day, then seem a inch taller and much thinner the next....

Boo was in the  low 50 lb range at 6 months, he's now 1 year and about 84 lbs. and 27 inches, he needs to fill out but your guy sounds BIG.

It;s been bugging me that I don't know so I just went and measured my Dult. Mind you I was by myself and he wont stand still for long. I think he is between 24 and 25 inches at a year old and just shy of 80 lbs. Anything alarming here?

iluvmyGSD and 4pack,

IMO I think too much is made of weight. Or at least how we evaluate wieght. To say a dog is 60 Lbs at 6 mo. or 80 Lbs at one year is too much or too little is not a fair evaluation. Too many things to consider such as Genetics. How fast does this line mature? What is his dad or mom like ( who ever the dog takes after) at grown age and at the age of your dog.  Bone structure. Some dogs lines are slender and that is what you have to work with. Some are of a heavier frame and will always be heavier dogs. To compare dogs to another dog at the same age or to even compare them to a chart gives only a general idea. Everyone says look for ribs. This also depends on the coat of the dog. My male would be near death to show ribs. Wieghts and measures should be done base on what you have, the dog and those behind him. My male grew much faster then I expected. I under fed at times because his wieght was over all the charts and over what I was familiar with. However he slowed down his fast growth rate and now is topped off in the low 80's at  a year and a half. Too me if they look good, are not lethargic, have the look of a dog that is ready to work then that is IMO a good gage to use. You know what looks right.
