I think most every style of food has been recalled now.  Cheap kibble, expensive kibble, canned, moist, and now raw.  Maybe we'll go to home grown, home processed.

You guys need to read why Bravo pulled the product before you make a decision about it.  All raw (even/especially what is on your supemarket shelves) containes bacteria and the FDA approves it.  The problem is FDA doesn't have seperate standards for RAW for RAW consumption so it is applying the same standard it uses for canned foods, which are to have no bacteria (BUT do) due to the cooking process.

Crap, just read the info please!

no problem Sue, I did read it.  The same issues as many foods before cooking, even human grade.  We still feed raw a few days a week.  You have to admit home grown sounds pretty good at times!

I don't know why that posted twice!  Of course wouldn't you know one of my stupider (word?) posts would be the one to post twice.  Animules:  Sorry if I sounded defensive, I've had a ruff (ha ha) day.  I'm worried the FDA will now require meats to be irradiated if they are meant to be consumed raw.  If that happens, I'll have to go back to buying raw from grocery stores.  I only feed meats and whole bones that are hormone & antibiotic free which is why I adore Bravo.  I even have a seperate stand alone upright freezer just for my dogs bones & meat because it's cheaper buying bulk from Bravo.  If I have to go back to buying this kind of product from the grocery, well lets just say my xmas won't be so bright!!!!

A dog's digestive system is MADE to handle bacteria and eccoli.

Yes, a dog's system is made to handle bacteria.  The harm is for the humans who handle these foods.  Listeria causes miscarriage and stillborns in humans.  If one knows what one is dealing with is fine, but we do need to know.

From what I understand Bravo uses various sources for their veggie part of the raw.  It's inconsistant from batch to batch and often includes spoiled veggies from salvaged veggies rejected for human consumption.  Bravo is a spin off from Oma (BIG LAWSUIT if you want to research).  Those I know and work with consider Oma to be the higher end product.

Bravo recently moved processing to Canada I believe.

For me if I'm feeding raw I want to see, smell and feel the meat before feeding it out.  Grinding it up and mixing with veggies adds a few more steps for bacteria to get added.  I'm not a supporter of either Oma or Bravo...

I'm with you Sue Ann. Who knows how often they clean their grinders, where they get their food and how fresh it is when they process it. Then there is shipping. Too much going on there for me to call it fresh. I'll stick to the grocery store. I see the meat in one piece and feed it whole or cut it up myself. I buy fresh myself, section it up into feedings and freez it myself.
