on here recently, i read a few threads about dogs tracking and some on how to teach them...the other day i thought, humm, let me try it...so i did...and BOSS is awesome at it! on the first day, he understood what i wanted him to do!

1st day, I didn't have any help, so i tied his leash to the picnic table and let him see me hide it. the first two tries, I just stuck the toy in the edge of bushes, then went back to him and said 'find it" he went straight to it and got it both times... so then i started throwing it futher in the woods...he found it everytime!

2nd day-- hid it a little futher, drug it on the ground a little and let him see "about" where i went...found it everytime.....

3d day- before i lett him out of his kennel, i took a toy , tied a piece of string to it, drug it on the ground, past his kennel, behind the barn, around the swing, through the yard, around the big tree, then i tied it up in the tree..this time he couldn't see where i hid it..I let him out saying "find it", it was so cool- nose straight to the ground...he found it- tied up in the tree! -----3day evening-yesterday- my couison and aunt were here, so I got to show him off...I held his collar and turned him where he couldn't see, she drug the toy,..first she went threw the flower bed, lol...we started hollaring, NOooo!...not in the flower bed!!!.... she zig-zagged all over and hid it behind the far shed....I let him go...nose to the ground- straight through the flower bed!...he zig-zagged all over...it was really cool, he was using his nose the whole time, and of course he found it! we did it a few more times...everyone was impresssed and i was very proud...the best thing about it is that BOSS seems to really LOVE doing this..Ive been feeling guilty cause we dont go to a club, or training classes or have cows for him to chase..so he didn't really have any work to do...now we can do this for brain work and fun..i had no idea this was gonna be so easy to teach, i thought it would take weeks..now i gotta figure out how to teach him to snif someone's shirt or something and find the person it belongs to...i think im gonna get my kids to help me with that one....
