Ok, here it goes...I am working/training my 2 year old cadaver dog in Schutzhund. How do I get her to hold anything in her mouth. a small jute role, a dumb bell? Please help.
Fortunately, my team has no predgudise (God, I can't spell) sorry folks. sar dogs working Schutzhund. I am finding many teams will not accept asar dog who has had bite training.
They are sooo misinformed.

unfortunatly the rule has passed no SAR or certified therapy dog is to receive bitework or their licence to act as an SAR or therapy dog is pulled.
A special dog comes to mind reading your post a male dog bred by Bullinger GSD's . SchH3 KKl1 V rated This dog was deployed to ground zero . Long story short the dogs practice as a Therapy dog was pulled because the dog received bite dog training :((( The dog already has proven his abilities ( if 9/11 is not prove enough well I do not know what other test would prove a dogs ability ) still his time as a therapy dog ended :(
Darn >>> the dogs call name slipped my mind ( I hate when that happends) he was featured in the USA magazine also . Brew thats it I think !
I am glad to have had to oppertunity to mention this dog !! many dogs deployed to ground zero have died .
one of my own home bred Cole vom Rheinland also searched he has since passed.

Pia,
I think that it was Uno Bullinger.

I used to train with a guy who had a SAR certified dog, that he titled to a SchII & AD and maintained his cert. He even got permission from one of the most tight assed cities in 100 miles to work his dog at parks and schools. This was less than 2 years ago. You may want to check in the area you live...it may vary from jurisdiction to jurisdiction.

I don't know about Delta, but Therapy Dogs, International wil not certify a dog that has had protection or Schutzhund training.

I have also been told that. We take the test and everything but I have never sent in paper work due to it would be pulled.

I find this a strange topic. From TDI website history:
Elaine Smith with Phila CDX (German Shepherd Dog), Ursula Kempe with Sam UDT, SCHIII FH (German Shepherd Dog) and Tippy UD (German Shepherd Dog), Maeleine Loos with OTCH Jodi (Collie), Ronn Loos (deceased) with Holli UDTX (German Shepherd Dog) and John Miktus (deceased) with Ebony UDTX (German Shepherd Dog) were the first group to visit institutions and helped put into action Elaine Smith’s dream. Of those living, all are still active Associate Members with TDI.

I have never heard that before and I have a ceriifed therapy dog who is a SchH3 .. a friend of mine is also involved in a pilot therapy dog program with her SchH3, IPO3 dog and has been on the local news as well as in print and mention is made of his working titles. He is certified thru Delta I believe...
That would be ridiculous.. we actually had dogs in our group who were dog aggressive.. that is far worse in my mind!

This is news to me, I have a SchH3 therapy dog (TDI) and they never even asked. Pia who "passed this rule"?
What a bunch of crap!!! people are so ignorant, my ret. PDK9 and schH 3 dog makes a better therapy dog than my other two non bitework trained GSD's and half the other GSD's I know!!!

Personally, I would trust a dog who had been properly bite trained far more than one who had never been. They should know when a bite is appropiate, ie: on a command
