Hello.
Has anyone heard word on Xena lately? I've tried to look thru past posts but, don't see anything since the 15th.
Saw she was having a problem with one of the small pups too and wondered how she is doing.
Thanks in advance for any info.
Hope all is well Shandra.

Hi
Sorry I havent updated, Xena is lucky to be alive lol SHe tripped me sunday as I was walking to the front door, she was a hurry to get in the house and she bumped up against me then walked right between my feet sideways, tripped me and made me fall, breaking my Left arm lol
So I have been grooming dogs 1 handed having my bather hold the dog in positions that I need and I am off driving the bus for a week. It was a slight fracture so its not all that bad. Has it splinted solid with instructions not to remove it on penalty of casting lol I dont want a cast, I wont be able to drive for 6 weeks with a cast on, cant afford that.
The smallest pup is still the smallest but man is she ever a go getter!. Super people friendly and not afraid of anything. She was the runt and always small but she is gaining weight and not as thin as she was TG.
I think taking them back and forth to the shop did alot of good, It got them used to all types of strange sounds such as sirens, auto, 18 wheelers and the shop noises, doesnt even phase them when I turn on the vacuum or steam cleaner at home now. They got used to hearing the blower and the vacuum at the shop. They also got used to seeing other dogs, my daugheter brings her Schnauzer to work every day. They have all had their first bath and blow, altho it was a quick one, just enought to get the mush out of their hair lol They are eating well and have already developed a discrimatory sense of taste, I ran out of Chicken Soup for the Puppy Lovers soul and had to feed them Purina Puppy ( Tractor supply was out of the dogfood I use) and they wouldnt eat the purina, even momma wouldnt eat it, I had to run to humble and get some.
The things we do for our dogs! lol
I am already beginning to see distinct personalities, cetain ones use their noses more than others, some are more dominant and they all take the toys away from each other, Their fav toy is the grunting hedgehog lol
I am going to worm them again, that will give me 1 more worming before they are of an adoptable age :)

happy to hear all is (mostly) well at your place. good to hear about the pups and xena. very sorry to hear about your arm! i worry that one of us will end up "broken" because of one of our dogs - they just get impatient sometimes. teach her to "wait". no more broken bones (hopefully). take care.....k

I was gonna say "Seems like you can't get a break", but that's exactly what you got!! LOL You need a different kind of break tho. Hope all will be back in order for you soon. You've certainly had your share recently. Good to see you kept your sense of humor.

Maybe if former owners would have put in the same kind of effort when Tino was a pup his life wouldn't have ended up so unstable. Temperament is temperament but he could have been given a whole lot more to work with. I think you're doing a great job, Shandra. You are certainly doing right by these pups.

Thanks ya'll :)
Since you mention Tino, He is doing great. I had my son start feeding him under the fence to start with and me supervising, after a while I went with him into the backyard while he carried the food and fed Tino,Of course the other dogs back there helped bring Tino around. It really did help having my son feed him. Tino is in the house at the moment, His nightly, closely controlled indoor time. Justin is in the hsower and Tino is playing with the other 2 big dogs, they all get to come in nightly for a couple of hours. I still spend plenty of time with Tino in the evenings after I get home from work, fed the pups. squirrels, Inside dogs, outside dogs, son and myself, Cleaned puppy room, picked up "Presents" in the yard and had a cup of coffee in that order lol Life is busy if nothing else.
That being said, I am still trying to get Tino into an appropriate home where I dont have to worry that he will eventually end up in a shelter. He still doesnt completely trust Justin and still feels most comfortable with me.
I havent seen the first Fear sign in any of the pups, several of them chase the vacuum hose when I am sucking up hair with the shop vac at the shop lol The last one born was also the largest, A beautiful solid black male with a nice big blocky head, he was chaseing the nozzel and got his paw to close and it sucked it in a little, lol he didnt panic, he pulled it out and barked at the vacuum and tried to catch it again lol Silly pups. This weekend they will go out to the yard with momma for a few hours to see how they do, I am going to let them stay out a little longer each day while I am home until I am comfortable that they will be ok. I am such a worry wart I know. The side yard is right outside my front door and completely inaccessable to any other dogs, I have hotwire running around both the inside and outside of the fence and at the 4 ft mark on both sides, I wanted to be prepared for their eventual move outside. Lots of work keeping their area clean in the house and I am about wore out lol Time to let nature clean up after them a bit lol
They have been introduced to many varied surfaces, Linoleum, carpeting, grass, dirt, leaves, not sure there is anything they havent been exposed to except snow and we dot get that around here lol. The outside will be a new experience tho so I want to take it slow, big scary wide open spaces.
