Does anyone know about some sort of "defects" this dog passes on to its puppies? I am considering getting one of his puppies (locally, here in the US), I would be able to see the puppies for myself before deciding. But, I have to make a fairly quick decision as I'm sure they will not last long. The mom is Joa vom Prinzenrain and she is a very sweet, beautiful dog. Puppies are reasonably priced for the pedigree. However, I am concerned about this physical defect I've been hearing about in Bazi. Anybody?

Hi Melissa.

This is my male, Andy von der Grübecke out of Bazi's first litter. http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/pedigree/509467.html. The picture was taken as he was 8 months old.  His colours and chest have matured nicely. He is 64,5cm and has black eyes. His ears took longer to stand up as other pups did, but they stood without having to be "helped". He has all his teeth and has both testicles. His HD/ED X-rays will be done when he is about 16 months. He is a quiet dog to have in the house. He will, however, guard his and his own seriously. Andy has a strong head and loves to work. He is no dog for beginers.

I am so convined of Andy's character, that I have had my female mated to Bazi. The pups are expected around Oct 19. I'm looking forward to them!!!

If   I would live in the USA and could get a puppie from Bazi I would have no doubts, what male in the US  is better?????

I am so happy to hear this! I love Bazi and think he is quite a dog. But then I read his "comments" page and someone was complaining about a defect. So, I had to ask around since I did NOT do that with my first puppy, and even though I LOVE my dog, I should have been more informed. I also paid a hefty price for him. I am very interested in one of his puppies, so I just wanted to make sure he is as sound as I thought him to be! I believe the puppy in question is $2000-2500... is this a good price for one of his puppies? I know he is a very sweet dog with a good temperment and that is exactly what I want. This will not be a schutzhund dog (well, not for sure) and I would like a girl. So, we would not be interested in first pick, I just want a playful, sweet tempered GSD, as a playmate for my GSD: http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/pedigree/470542.html (could there be a more beautiful puppy??). I also want her to be of sound temperment for possible tracking and other things. So, that is where I got the "defect", only by comment on Bazi's comments page, NOT because I think he has one. I think it is best to always check things out before making a decision and thanks for the emials :) Melissa

That sounds high to me for a pet puppy.

The price of $2000-2500 is the going price in the USA for a Bazi puppy and the pick of the litter could be more.

Blitzen mention that he thought that was a high for a pet puppy  and it may be. however a Bazi puppy should be able to do much more than just be a cute dog around the house.

Bazi and his pupppies are great SCH dogs and Bazi at the  2007 German Sieger Show was specially noted by  judge Meyer as having excellent bitework and he ended  the sieger show  at V6.

so some people will spend the money and then develop the puppy and others may spend the money and not develop the puppy but in my opinion it is worth it cause even if you do not train him for SCH with his genes he will be much better than just a "normal "pet puppy".

You should also check the website of  vonderburgrubin.com    they brought a Bazi puppy from Germany about 6 months ago called Adrian von der Urbecke and he has really developed very nicely. called them and ask for their opinion.

Bazi himself is a very good dog, but you have to considder the females who he is mating , Genotype is from working nothing behind him

To each his own. I have never see an 8 week old pet puppy worth that kind of money regardless of its pedigree. I'd not pay more than 1K for a pet puppy, but that's me. Coming from another breed, the prices of many GSD pups seem way out of line to me and then many breeders don't even want to stand behind their pups with a written guarantee. For $2,500 I'd expect that puppy to vacuum the house and shop for groceries .

I agree with Blitzen.... Terry Gimpel owns V4Ham v d  Urbecke and has some pups .

Here is an ad for TJ pups being born and not near what you quoted for Bazi
