Chinese love to buy the top dogs from Germany.  Does anyone know how much was paid for what dog?

I heard that some dogs are so expensive they go for the same price as a house.

You can buy a house for 20 grand or for 20 million, so not a good rough estimate.  I would guess around 50 to 150 thousand for a VA male.  VA1 would probably go for the higher side of that.  Females less, I would think.  I am just guessing.  Thruth is, when you are talking with someone who has REALLY big bucks, they just don't care what they pay, if they want it.  They will pay whatever you ask, until someone close to them says, "he's ripping you off Joe", then they will negotiate down a little, just to make it appear that they are not so stupid.  Some really rich people, actually like to overpay for things, because they know it will be known how much they pay, and make them look filthy rich amongst their circle.  It is a status symbol thing.  If they could get the exact same thing from Tractor Supply for $900 dollars, but a specialty shop had it for $2000 dollars, they will intentionally get it at the specialty shop at the higher price, lest someone find out that they bought something at Tractor Supply.

I heard a rumor that Sarko di Casa Mary sold to China for 50 grand American.  His link is listed below.

Keep in mind that sometimes their are "fire sales", when someone needs money today or tomorrow, for whatever, and they sell cheaper than they normally would.

The exceptions are the rich that got rich through hard work or good business.  The ones I am talking about are the ones that got rich through entertainment or inheretance.

So, the answer to your question is that the prices are all over the place, depending on the dogs age and health, the buyers financial status, the sellers current financial position, the dogs progeny reputation, etc, etc.

Anyone reading this, stinking, filthy rich?  Anyone reading this own a VA dog?  Their imput would be very interesting.

Do Right,

Have you never heard the expression, "The rich stay rich because they watch where their pennies are going." I would say you describe a rich person who is ignorant and perhaps just won the lottery, and hasn't a clue on how to manage money.  Having an inheritance is an advantage, but no guarantee to maintaining wealth. I know plenty of wealthy persons; my father, being a brilliant, hard working, nouveau riche, one of them, too, (Ffld county is chock full of them.) I might stand to inherit a few pennies one day too. On the flipside, my DH's siblings are about the poorest bunch of ignorant slackers  and con artists I've ever had to put up with! And it is not because they haven't had opportunities, (they just blew them off).

There is some truth, in what you say, that sometimes a higher price  will sell more on some  goods,  i.e. artworks, because there is the implication that  a cheaper price indicates an inferior product or less desirability.  Also there is the  time  factor,  money allows freedom in  different  ways.  How much is  your time worth  vs. getting  the cheapest price?  What is their  service (accessability) worth to you as well?

I do not know any wealthy person who goes out of their way to pay MORE than they have to. What really happens lots of times, is someone thinks you have tons of money, (because they see an old Caddy in the driveway, perhaps?) and they never GIVE you a fair price.

I remember working at a P-Town jewelry shop when I was in college, (eons ago), and whenever they heard French speaking, the shopkeepers would say, the Canadians are coming, raise all the prices by a dollar!

It's actually hard to get a fair price with the attitude, "they got the money, let's rip them off."

Just trying to present a different scenario to yours.

No argument from me, but I will mention Paris Hilton (shopping sprees are legendary and I will not explain them) and Barbra Streisand, who as I understand it from TV shows, requires, when at home or in hotels, that someone sprinkle rose pedals in the toilet bowl, prior to her using it.  Does that sound like someone who watches their pennies.  I agree though, that most that have money, are very relunctant to part with it, unless they came by it easily.  Elvis used to buy Cadillacs for people, on a whim.  Many celebs and rich people spend two million dollars on a wedding, and then do it again a few months later.  Which brings me to another of my pet peeves.

Anyone that spends more than a middle class house costs, to pay for a wedding, is stupid, nuts and full of themself, all at once.  Regardless of how much money they have.  There are charities that could use that money much better.  As am matter of fact, anyone who spends more than 10 thousand on a wedding is nuts.  Yes, I know how much caterers, dresses and others associated things cost, but they are unnecessary and frivolent.  No, I am not jealous of the rich or well to do, just amazed by their actions.  Just as I am about idiots that drive crouch rockets at 70 miles an hour, doing wheelies and such, or those that jump out of perfectly good airplanes with parachutes, just for fun.  Just plain stupid, and asking for a rude awakening.  Which brings me to another pet peeve of mine.  All of these idiots that climb mountains or try to cross an ocean in a canoe, then get lost and the taxpayers have to spend millions of dollars and put other peoples lives in jeopardy looking for them and/or trying to save them.  Just plain idiots.  I repeat what I have said before.

I see stupid people.  They are all around us, and they don't even know that they are stupid.

SPEAKING OF SPENDING MILLIONS LOOKING FOR SOMEONE     DID THEY EVER FIND        THE EXPERT RISK TAKER,,,,,FOSSETT?

Left in his airplane , no flight plan , and hasnt been seen or heard from as of yet? I guess,,,,I got tired of guessing what happened to him......filthy rich man took one too many risks , I guess.....where did he go....probably buried under a snow drift or avalanche.....where his plane went down.....?????????????

sorry kaiser1979    didnt mean to highjack your thread..

Va dogs do deserve the dollars spent on them.,,,,,it takes lots of money to keep one fit as a fiddle....as my mom use to say.....

I have heard rumors said of the Chinese buying dogs, that a lot of breeders and trainer here in Us bid on and have to pay thousands of dollars over its worth,,,,,to keep someone over seas from getting it.......
