Took Chaos to the groomer after work today to get him cleaned up. I usually leave him there, but since it was just her and I, she asked me if I would stay and keep her company. She came in after hours to do him. As she was trimming his pad hair with the clippers, she said that I might want to keep a eye on his pad. I stepped over to look at it and here are a couple of pictures of what we found. It's irritated and a litte puffy. Any ideas? He did have a hot spot in his armpit a couple of weeks or so ago. Could it be a hot spot on his pad?

This is "clipper burn"--results from trimming too close with electric clippers. If he is licking the area, I suggest applying Happy Jack Pad Kote or Schreiner's solution.

He has not been to the groomer since the beginning of July. I sat right there and watched her do his pad hair. She didn't even get to that part with the clipper when she noticed his pad and told me to check it out. Then she trimmed the hair so that we could see it better. So I can pretty much say that it's not a clipper burn. I haven't noticed him licking it and didn't even know it was there until Megan found it. And I don't use clippers on him my self.
Yep I'll update my email. Thanks for letting me know that it bounced. I just changed email addys about a month ago. I knew I forgot something, lol.

Nonetheless, I suggest applying Happy Jack Pad Kote or Schreiner's solution.
I don't know it you have foxtails (grass awns) in your part of the country. Usually, with a foxtail embedded beneath the skin, there is a slight hole and some licking.

A torn or injured pad is very sensitive to a dog. This product is a miracle worker on pads and other cuts as well. I've used it for years. This product has saved my greyhounds more times than I can count. Its cheap and is sold at many Tack & Feed Stores.

Ouch! I am surprised you haven't seen him licking it looks like it would hurt. Hope you get him fixed up so he can go out and show!

Haven't noticed him licking it or anything. Didn't even know it was there. No limping as I said also. I put some spray that I have on it and started him on some clamimox that I have from work. I'll see how it looks in a couple of days or so.

Give Chaos a kiss from his Auntie Diane and tell him I hope his paw feels better soon. Oh and give him some extra treats from me too.
