We recently purchased a GSD as a pet.  I just  found this site and found that linebreeding shows up in the 5th generation.  How big of a deal is this?  We haven't decided on whether or not to neuter him, so I'd like some advice in that direction too.  He's a terrific little guy, super smart, and very willing.

pedigree is here: http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/pedigree/517219.html

I only have "couch" pics so I didn't upload any.  He's a handsome little dude though.  I'll try and get him to stand still long enough for a proper pic soon.

Thanks in advance.

It's not a big deal at all. By the time you've reached generation 5 , the genetic influence of the individual(s) upon whom the dog is linebred is well diluted. The exception MAY  be if there are many lines going back to that particular animal...but doubtful.

He's got quite the working background, that guys going to want a job when he grows up!

If you're maybe not into bite work & he's just a pet, make sure he goes to obedience training,
you can see some interesting dog people & hear about all the different sports and fun stuff to do with your boy!

After you become familiar with this site & check out pedigrees, you'll find that your dog's pedigree seems
to be well diluted.    Enjoy him, and let's get some pics of that handsome little dude!!!

Thanks for the kind words.  I went ahead and uploaded a "couch picture".  I'll replace it with something more suitable when he gets older.

We started obedience training the day he came home.  We have managed to get him to a couple of puppy classes, just to expose him to other dogs.  He hasn't shown any aggressive tendencies yet with other dogs or with people.  I did notice the hackles go up when someone approached my wife during a walk, but as soon as my wife started talking to them he got the usual puppy wiggles.

My wife wants him to be a therapy dog and that's fine with me.  We're pretty old and I'm not sure that I could physically handle getting him a title.

He's a cutie!    Solid looking working dog.  Just give him a job to keep him busy.
