Its me again. I have two questions to ask to gain my knowledge:

1. If I fully shave my Cocker Spaniel how much time it will take to grow the hair fully and during the period what vitamins can I feed her to grow the hair fast.

2. I have a German Shepherd which is one ball, he is 17 months old recently I mate him with one female they were tied two times. My question is there any problem for a  one ball German Shepherd to produce.

HOPE FOR NICE REPLIES

To answer question #2,

There is a BIG problem with breeding a dog with one-testicle, esspecially at that age...1. One teste is thought to be genetic! 2. A dog should NEVER be bred before 24 months...

I honestly hope you get a verbal beating from the members of this board.

Don't like how I put it? Wait tell people with more nerve than me post...

Your 1st question about your cocker spaniel, you are better off asking a groomer about that.

Your 2nd question should have been asked before you bred your male that has one testicle!! Congratulations you are now in the BACK YARD BREEDER group!!!  If you cared enough about the German Shepherd breed you would have asked these questions in advance!!! You just broke the golden rule, and you NEVER, EVER, breed a dog that has one ball as you put it. It is genetic and will pass on to the puppies. Your dog needs to be neutered and never to be bred again!!! Sorry for being this way, but I just can't believe the ignorance that people have about breeding.

In your mind you knew it didn't look right to have a male that has one ball!!!! If it doesn't look right, then it's not!!! and you should have not bred him. I don't know how else to put it. Thanks for adding more puppies that are going to probably be homeless or in a shleter, because of their father's defect, and the owner's ability to ask before being bred. You also never breed a dog before it is 2 years of age.

Has your male had his hips/elbows done on prelims? That is suppose to go thru the OFA at 2 years of age as well.

if you fully shave your cocker spaniel it will take approx 4/6 months to grow back this depends on how long you want it to grow back to

generally people whoi have their cocker spaniels clipped have them done every 8/12 weeks to keep the coat in a good trim

i dont think that there is anything that will make your dogs coat grow back faster other than being fed a good diet

Kelly, he's a backyard breeder, what do you think the answer will be?

Also, if you check his previous threads you'll find he let a tick problem get totally out of hand before asking for advice. Someone who's not willing to spend the money for routine tick control ain't going to bother getting his dog OFA'd!

For question #1  it will take about a year for your cocker spaniel  to grow her full coat back.

If you plan on breeding your cocker spaniel they have a LOT OF GENETIC PROBLEMS you better check out first,Oh thats right you DON'T CARE.

Question#2 Maybe you should have ask this question before you bred your dog.

Iam with Naya's mom on this you should have never bred this dog knowing he had only one testicle  and under 24 months with noooooooooooo OFA OR A stamp. You should be ashamed of yourself. Here is another BYB I bet you did it for the money.

question 1,  I don't have a clue

question 2.  OFA's are at 24 mos.   should NOT be breeding on prelims.   and one ball is NO BREEDING.   most of your pups will run the risk of also being one ball, or they will produce one ball.

Congradulations you have a wonderful potentially displastic, crypt, litter on the way.   Maybe you can sell them to the pit bull trainers who will feed the puppies to they're pit bulls,   But hey you'll get 25.00 each for your trouble.

Let me guess the Dam and Sire are littermates too,  ROFL.

Sunsilver,

Unfortunately I did not read his other post about the tick problem. I think this is a person that doesn't care about the betterment(if that's a word)? of the breed. If he did he would be asking everything about the breed before ever buying one, or have some kind of knowledge about the GSD. IMO way should he even ask these questions when the job(so to speak)is already done!!! I feel very sad, and sorry for the GSD it's self to have a owner like this.

Kelly,  he wants to better the breed alright into a bunch of dysplastic one ball producing mongoloids.   That unfortunate, and uneducated families will purchase with NO guarantees and the dog will die young of heart murmor, displasia complications, or difficult testicle removal when being neutered.  and NEVER buy another GSD in they're LIVES
