Hello -
I am located in the US, and looking for a top showline male puppy. NOT in a hurry to get one immeadiately, would like to wait at LEAST 1 month due to moving into a new home! =) I am NEW to owning the showlines...have always owned working lines, but would really like to find a top show prospect. I am familar with what lines are good and the top dogs, but I'm NOT familar on who to get them from.
There have been so many NICE litters posted on this website and others, and just hope it's not a scam. I am interested in buying directly from Germany or overseas, but a little nervous about it. I dealt with a "middle man" before with my German workingline import and he made quite a bit of money off of me. I'm finding that a lot of litters in the US are A LOT more expensive for similar lines. Why is that??
Are there certain people to stay away from? Any highly rec. people to go to?? I'm only interested of purchasing from at LEAST V-rated parents, if possible VA.
Please email me directly if you do not want to post.
Thank you!

Take a peek at Vollmond shepherds in IL. Smaller, selective breeding program, kinda pricey depending on what you're looking to spend, but very good dogs. She owns VA Karo van de Herdersfarm and some very nice females.

Lol I just noticed the title of this thread..I am RECOMMENDING that breeder in a positive fashion (wanted to reiterate that)....asking who to stay away from is asking for another pedigree database forum war.

AlliGSD911 has posted their e-mail address. I suggest that POSITIVE comments be posted on the Pedigreedatabase and negative ones be sent by private e-mail. I agree, KCzaja, there is no need to start another namecalling session on the Pedigreedatabase. Let's try to keep it positive, folks.
Best Regards,

Alli,
If you are looking for a TOP show prospect I suggest that you do some independent research first. Decide what type of dog you prefer, what your training and financial capacities are, etc. There are numerous sites to browse where you can see some of the breedings available. Be sure to choose breedings with low ZW score (below80). If you intend to show in USCA or internationally you will want strong working temperament. Best Wishes, Jonah

Alli, Stay away from anyone who won't take the time YOU need to make an educated, informed decision !!
Good Luck with your search and hopfully you'll find a breeder who not only cares for they're dogs, but for those who purchase them as well.

Thank you to everyone! And I completely understand about not wanting to start a message board "war" by name callings...and didn't want that! I have just seen so many extremely NICE litters out of lines that I want, and just a little nervous about how to go about it, and not be taken advantage of.
May I ask why dogs/puppies are so much more expensive in the US versus getting the same breeding in Germany??

AlliGSD, That is an excellent question. I am always amazed at what USA breeders charge for a showline pup. You nearly have to take a second mortgage to buy that pup. There are a few good breeders of German Show line dogs in the US, who won't charge you an arm and a leg.You may even find a few breeders who offer incentive to new owners to title and show their pup, meaning you get money back when the pup is titled. I have that agreement in my contract. It shouldn't hurt to buy a black and red GSD from good lines, from parents that earned titles!
