Earlier this year, if I recall correctly, the last dog that served at Ground Zero died. Please take a moment and remember all those dogs and people that served to help others in need.
I was there and saw these dogs in action and that is why I have a GSD today. They actually staged rescues in order to keep the dogs spirits up since there were no survivors found after Sept. 12th. May they all rest in peace.

God Bless everyone that was loss on Sept,11,2001(and all the families that were effected), as well as everyone that was involved (including the dog's) that tried to help and rescue people(and animals after Sept. 11)!!!!
Thank you Kevin Geagan for bringing this up, and for being there during that awful time to help in the efforts.

Kevin: Thanks for posting. I know a lot of the rescue workers have been horribly ill ever since the rescue efforts. I wonder if the dogs succumbed to lung infections, etc., as well. In any case your thread is not about politics, but about remembering all those that tried so hard to help and all those that were lost from that day.

A few years ago I was in NYC to see a play and met a police officer with a Czech GSD. She told me her first GSD served at Ground Zero and died a few years later from lymphosarcoma/leukemia as had a few others.
We must never forget.......

Bless all who died, and those that sadly remember and suffer from that day. Burn in HELL for the bastards who rejoice, you chose the wrong generation.

I think VA Uno Bullinger is stil alive. He was there, not as SAR, but Crisis therapy for the workers. Absolutly great dog with a 6th sence about hurting people.
God Bless them all!

CT State Police K-9 Sirius (GSD) "Sirius Von Rindge" was there for the week after the 11th with 14 other CSP K-9's. He just passed away last week at the age of 9. He worked up until this passed summer. I do believe Sirius was the last of their group to pass away but I can not be positive of that. I know at least two of them passed away with in 2 years of 9/11.
