Open letter to David Payne.......
--------------------------------------------------------------
Hello David,
All of us who who are not able to attend the World Sieger Show are anxiously waiting for your "IMPRESSIONS SIEGER 2007".
Your great knowledge of the breed and of the subtle inner workings that go on in the picking of the dogs at this show is unparaleled...And your wonderful writings of your 'IMPRESSIONS' of this show are most enlightening and greatly appreciated.
Please don't make us wait too long...
Thank you for all your effort,
Kind regards,
John jojovcj@hotmail.com

Johntic - It takes about 4 to 6 weeks to write my impressions, around 5,000 words - obtaining the best photo's possible, is also very difficult, then I also try and arrange the very best interpretations. - Das Schäferhunde Magazin was "warned off" helping me by an SV Judge in 2005, and "warned off" printing my IMPRESSIONS in the Magazin, obviously because of my "direct & forthright" style of writing.
I am pleased they are appreciated by some people, but please be careful when writing compliments about my IMPRESSIONS on this web-site, some people will not like it, and react offensively.
Last year I included a reference to "NO CONNECTION = NO CHANCE" - it is still "thriving" and in my opinion becoming "normal practice" - I note many dogs at this years Sieger Show with names of their "connections" included - it always amazes me just how blatantly obvious "NO CONNECTION = NO CHANCE" is in Germany.
The silent (unconnected) large majority, are the only people who can STOP IT - by boycotting the 'important' shows.
I dream - it will never happen, or will it?

David,
"NO CONNECTION = NO CHANCE"....That is exactly what I was referring to when I wrote "Your great knowledge of the breed and of the subtle inner workings that go on in the picking of the dogs at this show is unparaleled".
Is that what is referred to as 'POLITICS'?
Please keep up with your "direct & forthright" style of writing...That is what makes your 'IMPRESSIONS' so interesting...We get a real and honest insite into what is really going on...and maybe, just maybe "it will happen".

David,
I love your IMPRESSIONS. Keep sharing your knowledge and love of GSD's with us.
Sorry about ICE at the show. Ice should have easily been in the top 20. What a shame.
Best Wishes,

Ice did NOT compete in the 2007 Sieger Show - Ice could NOT compete in the 2007 Sieger Show
Ice does NOT have a German Korung - Ice was measured by Karl-Heiz Zygato at his Korung and considered too BIG
Therefore Ice has NO Korung - NO appeal is allowed by the SV rules.
Ice has a Breed Survey (UK) Class 1 - Ice was measured at 66 cms
When Ice is relaxed, next to his owner and/or trainer HE IS 66 cms.
When Ice is attracted by his owner and/or trainer - up on his toes, HE IS A MAXIMUM OF 67 cms
Many TOP males & females in Germany are HUGE
males well over 67 cms & females well over 62 cms - and even over 68 & 63 - are measured at 65, even 64 - and in females at 60 and 59.These HUGE dogs then go on to be a huge influence in our breed.
ALL OF THIS BEING CONDONED BY THE SV
I would like to measure the following dogs - measuring a dog is NOT rocket science.
Ken Elzmundungstraum
Janus Noriswand
Quantum Arminius
Larus vom Batu
Orbit Huhnegrab
Odin Holtkamper Hof
Gjenges Kahn vom Sante's Home
Nando vom Gollerweiher
Ingodd's Agassi
AND MANY MANY MANY MORE - AND ALSO MANY TOP FEMALES

I perfectly agree on that.
I have addressed this subject in my recent letter to Mr. Meyer and suggested, one should use scanners as soon as possible (they are being used in fashion shops all over Germany already, and who would have imagined such an old institution like Wimbledon would install the Hawk-eye so soon? If this is possible, it should not be difficult for the SV to go new ways also.) The big kennels have secured huge revenues through their studs for years and years, when a small kennel now presents a "small giant" (like David did with Ice), he has been excluded. A shame really.
I have also addressed the "no connection-no chance" problem. Should you wish to publish my letter David, I would be glad to translate it to English.
Now I am looking forward to your Impressions also. I hope you will elaborate on the "EZ"-doggies. You are certainly aware of the fact that no less than 295 dogs were retrieved after the Standmusterung (in the usual order of presenting the different classes: 45, 14; 48, 49; 67,72).
Incredible really. Looks like a terrible disease stroke the Siegerschau. No withdrawal after the Standmusterung must be the rule. And fines should be huge, not peanuts.
