I have two dogs already, one working line an the other one showline... But want to get a 3rd one, Working line..

I wanted to hear from someone that owns 3 or more working dogs and find out how hard is to live that may dogs..  I will have to apply for a special permission from my council as I live in a 700 sqm Block in the city..

The only think that concern me is when I go oveseas I think not may of my friends would know how to handle a working line :(

Would like to hear your thoughts

i currently live with 3 WL shepherds and one show line a pomeranian and a senile poodle. i have worked hard with my WLs so that if someone needed to take care of them they will allow it and behave now you may have to tell them to sit like 5 times for them to respond but other  than that its not too bad. it depends on your friends if they can hold a dog chaseing a cat they should be good if the dogs are raised with the friend in question who would be takeing care of them. my guys do bicker alot but i do not allow fighting the moment something starts escalateing i just say Hay and thay all stop and get over it. but i also do  share my bed with 2 of my WLs :D i do not feel safe inless i always have one out of the kennels but if im not home they are eather with me or in their kennels.

Look out.. once you have 3 they seem to continue to creep in. My friends still make fun of me for my quote about how I would never have more than 3 dogs, when deciding to get my 3rd GSD. I now have 8 total and all GSD's. Some retired, some working, some waiting for a PD, and some up & coming.

I have 3 SL females and believe the dynamics change with the 3rd dog. They now become a pack. Not that there is a problem, but it sure takes alot more time to train them and they have to be seperated to train as they just want to end up playing.
Good luck.

I have said this repeatedly, the leap between 2 dogs & 3 dogs is quantum. There are a whole new set of dynamics at play. You must be in control at all times, & always vigilent. I have 3 females & 1 male, 3 WL, & 1 SL GSDs. They must be socialized to you, not each other; meaning that their first & strongest bond must be to you. Then there are jeolousies to figure out, in my house everyone wants to be the focus of my attention all the time; obviously, that can't be done. So, a lot of training, a lot of patience, a lot of common sense. My friends ask me, (after "Are you nuts?"), "How do you enjoy them all?" Sometimes all together, sometimes 1 at a time, but always very much! They're like potato chips, you can't have just one! jackie harris

Thanks for your opinions.. I would like to hear more...

I agree , once you start it seems to be hard to stop...  We have an import from Germany in my club and this dog is just amazing. Great working abilities, Super hard bite and great looks, I  have never wanted more than two, but I really want a pup from this male he is just a great dog.

I already keep my two dogs separated, as I have found in the past that if you leave them runing together their bond becomes too strong and then it is hard to train. So They run together sometimes for a little bit but then are separeted. I would just have to build another kennel.

I am sure Cost will rise with another dog, so many things to think about... but I still want another one :)

Why is that ? LOL I mean, that would be great that you get a dog that strong, but the odds are really against it. If your friends are over fairly often, and they play ball with your new pup, I would think they would be it's friend for life. I know you come here and play ball with all but two, and you are in.

3 gsds--2 WL, 1 that is 1/2 SL and 1/2 WL.  One big happy family, even with 2 cats.  They stay together all of the time, but they love us (humans) more than each other.
