Have anyone ever heard of a GSD's black saddle getting sprayed so it would look darker on show day?

Wouldn't surprise me
If I remember right SS has an interesting story regarding color and shows maybe she will share it if she sees this post. It was very funny

Well, just like with humans that want to look more tan, they have spray on tans, so I'd imagine they'd probably have some sort of color enhancing spray for dogs too. I know for sure they have a light bleach for making white coated breeds whiter.

I am really curious now....

Rumors of dyed dogs have led to testing of hair samples (possibly at the Sieger Show). Obviously the consequences of cheating would be severe. Jonah

Something I have "heard" (cannot validate) is that top dogs at the show dog world are required to submit hair samples to test for dyes. I would not be the least bit surprised that this is done. Cheating is nothing new, not even to dog sport I'm afraid.
I have a friend who was horse judge and she told stories of horses with dark eye contact lens because it was believed that the horse would act more alert and look "perky" since it couldn't see so well. Oy vey!
I hope they ARE testing for dyes now. Makes sense since coat color is such a big deal apparently in the show ring.

Also, if a dog has a couple of white or light coloured nails, they touch them up with a bit of shoe polish. I imagine it would be really hard to detect unless they scraped the nail with a knife.

Surely any spray etc would be easily identified when the judge ran their hands over the dog, especially if they were looking at undercoat?

Just for Men........It only takes five minutes for application
I love those commercials! The ones that are better are the hair replacement ads. There is one that has a bunch of guys commenting and showing the before and after pics. I like the guy that is 77, who says he hasn't had that much hair since he was 18........First of all, when I am 77 I don't think I will give a rats ass if I have hair or not. Secondly, if you are 77 and you are picking up the ladies, do the old gals really care if I have a full head of hair, or do they care that I have a full bottle of Viagra?
