high all.....i got a problem kinda....everyone around here is use to the b&t GSD as being a fullblooded GSD--- because boss is sable, they always ask if he is full-blooded-- it's very aggarvating when they say oh, my friend has  K-9 GSD or A RIN-TIN-TIN (by this they mean B&T, not that the dog does any work)-- i try to explain that boss is a working -line ,german GSD, and that sable is actually a pretty common color, just not around here...but i don't really know how to explain this because they always think that i mean a whole different breed, that he's not really a GSD....

im sure some of you out there with sable's have had this problem...any advice on how to explain this?

Hi,

Yes, I always get asked the same question. What kind of dog is she. Or I havw never seen a GSD look that that. I love the unique way the sables look. The sables never look alike. Everyone is dif in their own way.

Wasn't the first German shepherd Horand Grafrath a sable?

You could always tell people that you have the original color.

if they don't beleive it's a GSD, just finally say ok it is a "make up some breed", but it's not legal in "whatever country you are in" soo...don't tell people. So for exaple I would say:

"This is an Atlantic bloodbadck, but it's not legal yet in Canada, so don't tell anyone!"

I'm sure you will get a priceless look

I have a sable and a B & T, I get the same question all the time. I tell them he is of the working line and leave it at that. But if someone is really interested I will go into furhter detail, most people I do talk to are interested though, which is nice. Some are just not as educated in the breed and that is OK, because the GSD is not for everyone. Don't take it personally and enjoy your boy.

thanks guys...good shepherd---lol that would actually work around here, coyote's are so common you can walk outside at night a howl a little and you would get a whole pack in your yard....my hubby and some of his friends did this when they were kids and the closest place they could run to was a car..they were stuck in there for hours..lol.......

another question, but i know this one is prob a dumb one so i hesitate to ask, but are all american GSD'S b&t, are they're any sable, or is most sable only working line or from a different country? i kno, i kno..your gonna think im as dumb as the rest of em'..lol..but maybe ya'lls explaination would help me explain to others better...see i don't quite fully understand all of this myself, so its kinda hard for me to explain to others....

People seem to under stand better if I just tell them it is the Natural "wolf" coat and common in working line German Shepherds.

You say "Yes, he is purebred."  and let them go on thinking you're wrong - who cares what they think.
