I use this rubber mat that is usually sold in feed stores or anywhere that has horse products. This mat is tougher than a Kong toy that your dog chews on so do not worry about your dog chewing it up.This mat is used to line horse stalls with.I think it is wonderful for someone to line their kennels with, mainly if they have cement flooring.I feel by it being rubber,it adds cushion and absorbs shock.

I hope this helps!!

The rubber mats didn't work for us. We had them wall to wall inside our kennel. They were great for a month or two, but our dogs started chewing on the corners. What a mess! We took them out, as we didn't want them swallowing the rubber pieces.

There is a rubber product, which can be applied directly onto the floor. A friend of mine, who lives in Canada had the surface inside and outside done on their kennels. They claim it doesn't crack or blister - even in the freezing weather.  It's been without problems for over 10 years - so they say.

The company comes in with special spraying and application process and materical. I don't know who does it, but the company is in Canada.

I have seen rubber adhesive paint offered in the States, but I don't know if it's the same stuff or quality.

Hope it helps. Maybe someone may have more info on this.

I wouldn't use wood, it absorbs moisture and oder.  We use hard packed gravel with rubber mats over the top, easy to pressure wash and good drainage.   Only one corner chewed which stopped when we put some toys in for them.

I have heard people using the stuff they spray in the back of a truck for a bed liner, you can get that at your local hardware store and spray it on the kennel floors. I haven't used it myself, but haven't heard any complaints from it either.
