I just came across this ad www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/classifieds/44530.html
look at their website and tell me what you think

very thin bitch. coats seems sparse and dry. can;t tell if the male she may be bred to even has papers. website says his breeder didn't supply proper paperwork for CKC (I am guessing this is Canadian kennel club, not continental)

What I noticed was they don't even bother to certify hips with OVC or OFA, they just look at the x-rays themselves. Or maybe I am getting that confused?

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!
" We do not OFA or OVC rate because there is no guidelines for them to rate xrays. However we do xray our dogs and as clearly viewed; there is no problem!"
Run as fast as you can the other way!

I cannot believe they have not brought her weight up in anticipation of her breeding. OMG the pups are going to destroy her calcium reserves. Sorry, Maybe the dog is a hard keeper, I prefer my female to be slightly on the heavy side before breeding, so that she doesnt lose as much during the pregnancy and rearing of the pups. If you look close at the pic, it you can faintly see what appears to be concrete burns on her hip. um Maybe ya'll dont call them that, some also call them pressure sores, mostly found in really big dogs from laying on concrete.

Non-registered pups being sold for $1500-2500!
The bitch is problably out of coat after having recently weaned a litter--perhaps not as lean as she appears. The way she carries her left ear, she looks as if she has an untreated yeast infection.

The other thing I noticed is they say they never got the papers for their male but they are using him as a stud dog. What kind of sense does that make?
Brittany I agree to run the other way. After I read that about the Xrays. So I guess all the trained vets don't know what she does? Yeah right...................

Everybody calm down, juding by the body condition of their male (he is fat), this female is probably just naturally lean. I have had a few dogs who do not put weight on easily and don't like eating. The radiographs on the website actually look good/normal, and would rate well with a system, whether they choose to submit them or not. What everybody has to understand is that every individual breeder has their own standards for breeding, they choose to follow the SV standard, the AKC standard, breed selectivly to their own standard or just breed anything. From my point of view, this breeder chooses to breed selectivly to their own standard, their dogs are in good condition and seem to be part of the family. Tell you what, from a dogs point of view, I would want to be part of THEIR breeding program over MOST of the top breeders in the country....because I bet you their dogs get tons of attention and are not locked up in a kennel all day. I think that if you don't like what you see, you don't need to buy one of their puppies, personally I would not...but at the same time, its nobody's right to judge them or their breeding program.

All of our dogs live in the house with our family. We do not have a kennel.
Our CKC female of which we are going to keep and breed for ourselves had her first and only litter one year ago.
She is shedding out and is not thin and she did not just recently wean a litter. Perhaps before making such silly comments it would be better to ask?
We know how outstanding she is and no worries her puppies will be too.
As far as her ear; just treated yeast infection not untreated...again before making stupid assumptions...ask!
What we do with our breeding program so far has been extremely successful for us and we are very proud of our registered dogs.
Our stud is registered; he is the CKC database as the breeder registered the litter yet not one puppy was registered. Reported it to the CKC and guess what....2 years later and they still politely asking the breeder to please send in the paper work and the fees. The heck with that fine her, revoke her CKC rights and send the papers.
So we had no choice but to APR register him.
I have had many many breeders espically the local ones attach our program. Each to their own opinion but before you all go off on a tanget here let me just assure you...we are breeding and we know the reason behind the opposition is more in our quality then anything else.
We work hard with our dogs, training and our male is a PPD as well as has successfully done tracking!
Our CKC female {who is new to us this week} was a kennel dog her whole life until now. She has been with us for three days and she just loves being in the house. We had concerns about her house training; but she is awesome. Very smart and consitant training will get her trained in no time.
My vet says breeding bitches should be thin but gaining. He hates it when they are fat because they have harder times with whelping.
This bitch is not thin at all but she is not fat.
My male is fat {he is on a diet} because fat german shepherds is not good for HD.
You all have a really nice day. I sure will playing with my dogs.
